Job summary

Egis is seeking a Site Characterization Lead to oversee the planning, execution, and technical leadership of multidisciplinary site investigations supporting the radioactive waste management program in the UAE. You will ensure defensible licensing-grade understanding and integrate data across geology, hydrogeology, and environmental disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Earth Sciences, Hydrogeology, or closely related discipline.
• Master's degree or PhD in a relevant geoscience or engineering discipline would be advantageous.
• Chartered or equivalent professional status (CEng, CGeol, PGeo, PE) preferred.

About the Role

The Site Characterization Lead will be responsible for the overall planning, execution, technical leadership, and integration of multidisciplinary site characterization activities supporting the radioactive waste management program. The role will ensure that site investigations establish a comprehensive, defensible, and licensing-grade understanding of the preferred and alternate sites sufficient to support facility technical design, safety and environmental assessments, Site Preparation License documentation, EPCOM tender preparation, and subsequent construction planning.
The role will lead and coordinate specialist disciplines covering geology, geotechnics, geochemistry, hydrogeology, hydrology, meteorology, seismic and geohazards, topography and geomorphology, environmental and ecological characterization, and baseline radiological conditions. The Site Characterization Lead will ensure that field investigations, laboratory testing, site models, data interpretation, and design-basis parameters are technically consistent, quality assured, traceable, and progressively integrated with the project's engineering, safety, environmental, licensing, and permitting workstreams.

What do we need from you

Bachelor's degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Earth Sciences, Hydrogeology, or a closely related discipline. A Master's degree or PhD in a relevant geoscience or engineering discipline would be advantageous.
Chartered or equivalent professional status, such as CEng, CGeol, PGeo, PE, or equivalent, is preferred. The candidate should demonstrate strong knowledge of multidisciplinary site investigation techniques, ground investigation, laboratory testing programs, geological and hydrogeological modelling, data interpretation, uncertainty management, quality assurance, and technical reporting.
15+ years experience with nuclear/radioactive waste site characterization, regulatory submissions, safety assessment interfaces, GIS/SIMS-based site information management, and licensing-grade data management would be highly advantageous.
