Job summary

Simmons & Simmons Adaptive in the UAE seeks an experienced legal/compliance professional to support a client based in Dubai, with a focus on export controls, trade compliance and AI regulation.

The role involves advising on compliance programme design, managing internal investigations and third-party due diligence, and working closely with a sponsoring Partner and client teams on dynamic, fast-moving assignments.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer or legally trained compliance professional.
• Strong experience in export controls (EAR, dual-use, sanctions, trade compliance).
• Experience in technology, AI, cloud, or advanced computing sectors.
• Experience designing and managing compliance programmes.
• Experience with internal investigations and ethics programmes.
• Experience with third-party due diligence, AML, anti-bribery and corruption.
• Ideally based in the UAE.
• Able to work in a dynamic, fast moving environment with tight deadlines.

Main purpose of the role

Simmons Adaptive are looking for an experienced legal/compliance professional to support one of our clients based in the UAE with a particular focus on export controls, trade compliance and emerging AI regulation.

Person specification

• Qualified lawyer or legally trained compliance professional.
• Strong experience in:
• Export controls (EAR, dual-use, sanctions, trade compliance).
• Technology, AI, cloud, or advanced computing sectors.
• Compliance programme design and management.
• Internal investigations and ethics programmes.
• Third-party due diligence, AML, anti-bribery and corruption. d finance.
• Ideally already based in the UAE.
• You are a problem solver and offer a collaborative approach.
• You are able to work in a dynamic and fast moving environment.
• You are able to work quickly and effectively to tight deadlines. You have excellent organisation skills with the ability to effectively prioritise workloads.
• You can work autonomously but can also collaborate as part of the wider team.
