Job summary

First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) is seeking an experienced Shariah Compliance professional to support end-to-end Shariah matters for FAB Group, ensuring adherence to HSA, CBUAE, ISSC and international Shariah regulations.

The role involves coordinating with regulators, product teams, and control functions to implement Shariah resolutions, provide day-to-day guidance, and deliver training to relevant staff across local and international locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Shariah, Islamic Finance, Islamic Banking, Business Administration, Law, or related discipline from a reputable university.
• Strong understanding of Islamic banking products, Shariah governance, and AAOIFI standards.
• Fluency in English and Arabic preferred.
• 2–4 years of Shariah experience in a bank or financial institution with exposure to Islamic banking principles.
• Solid understanding of AAOIFI Shariah requirements and Higher Shariah Authority guidance.

Responsibilities

• Monitor implementation of Shariah resolutions and regulatory requirements across FAB Group and international locations.
• Develop and run Shariah compliance programs, policies, training, gap analysis, and incident management.
• Provide day-to-day Shariah compliance advice to product, business, and control groups on Shariah resolutions and fatawa.
• Act as main contact for internal and external stakeholders including regulators, lawyers, and auditors on Shariah matters.
• Build relationships with stakeholders and maintain effective communications on Shariah compliance matters.
• Deliver Shariah compliance training to staff relevant to their work areas.
• Support assessments of compliance levels to ensure FAB activities align with Shariah rules.
• Update ISSC and senior management on developments in Shariah resolutions.
• Coordinate communications between international units and Internal Shariah Control at Head Office.
