Job summary

intelligentsolutionshr is seeking an experienced Assistant Manager - Underwriting (General Insurance) in Dubai to lead the Non-Motor underwriting function. The role drives underwriting excellence, portfolio profitability, and strategic growth within a regulated environment.

The successful candidate will oversee risk assessment, governance, and collaboration across functions while supporting long-term underwriting objectives. Strong leadership and regulatory knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
• 10-12 years of underwriting experience within General Insurance, with strong exposure to Non-Motor lines.
• Proven experience managing underwriting operations and leading high-performing teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the end-to-end underwriting process for Non-Motor insurance products.
• Review and approve complex or high-value underwriting cases, ensuring sound risk selection and pricing.
• Develop, implement, and maintain underwriting guidelines, policies, and risk assessment frameworks.
• Monitor portfolio performance, underwriting KPIs, and emerging risks, recommending strategies to optimize profitability.
• Ensure timely issuance of policies, renewals, and endorsements while maintaining service excellence.
• Collaborate with Claims, Sales, Operations, Actuarial, and other stakeholders to support portfolio growth and risk management.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal governance standards, and underwriting best practices.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the underwriting team to enhance technical capability and overall performance.
• Prepare management reports and provide insights on portfolio performance, risk exposure, and business opportunities.
