Job summary

GHD in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Senior Transport Engineer to lead and contribute to planning, design and delivery of transport infrastructure projects.

You will apply expertise in traffic engineering, modelling (SIDRA), ITAs and multimodal design while mentoring junior staff and coordinating with clients and stakeholders.

The role requires a strong track record in project leadership, UAE regulations, and a collaborative approach to deliver safe, integrated transport solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in transport engineering or planning.
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or equivalent preferred.
• Proficiency in traffic modelling tools GIS and Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience with UAE transport regulations and infrastructure projects is a plus.

• Project Leadership & Delivery: Manage and deliver transport engineering projects from concept through to detailed design and implementation.
• Technical Expertise: Apply advanced knowledge in traffic operations transport design and integrated transport assessments (ITAs). Conduct traffic modelling (e.g. SIDRA) safety audits and multimodal transport analysis.
• Client Engagement: Maintain strong relationships with public and private sector clients and provide strategic input during planning and consultations.
• Documentation & Reporting: Prepare high-quality reports, business cases and technical documentation.
• Policy Development and Implementation: Help develop procedures for an area of the organization and monitor their implementation.
• Project Management: Manage a portfolio of projects while reporting to senior colleagues.

About the Role:

The Senior Transport Engineer will lead and contribute to the planning design and delivery of transport infrastructure projects. This role demands a strong foundation in traffic engineering transport planning and multi-modal design with the ability to manage complex projects and mentor junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Project Leadership & Delivery
  Manage and deliver transport engineering projects from concept through to detailed design and implementation.
  Lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
• Technical Expertise
  Apply advanced knowledge in traffic operations transport design and integrated transport assessments (ITAs)
  Conduct traffic modelling (e.g. SIDRA) safety audits and multimodal transport analysis.
• Client Engagement
  Maintain strong relationships with public and private sector clients.
  Provide strategic advice and technical input during project planning and stakeholder consultations.
• Documentation & Reporting
• Prepare high-quality reports business cases and technical documentation
• Ensure compliance with health and safety policies and quality systems..
• Improvement/Innovation: Identify shortcomings and suggest improvements to existing processes systems and procedures then deliver a plan for a small element of a change management program with guidance from a project/program manager.
• Knowledge Management System: Work within established knowledge management systems to deliver preset outcomes for an area of responsibility.
• Business Requirements Identification: Elicit complex business requirements using a variety of methods such as interviews document analysis workshops and workflow analysis to express the requirements in terms of target user roles and goals.
• Feasibility Studies: Conduct complex feasibility studies from a technological and organizational perspective and document findings to complete cost-benefit analysis on implementing changes to business processes products or business unit structure.
• Contract Management: Deliver required outcomes by managing day-to-day relationships with contract service providers while working within an established contract management plan.
• Testing: Develop product specifications and design test procedures and standards.
• Policy Development and Implementation: Help develop procedures for an area of the organization and monitor their implementation.
• Product and Solution Development: Define and deliver products and services that meet customer needs by selecting the best possible approaches available within established systems.
• Project Management: Manage a portfolio of projects while reporting to senior colleagues.
• Client & Customer Management (External): Manage relationships with small clients while also helping senior colleagues manage relationships with larger key clients and customers.
