Job summary

Halian Group is seeking a Senior Detection Engineer to lead the design, development, and maturity of enterprise threat detection capabilities in a banking-focused environment in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The role demands hands-on delivery alongside strategic leadership in detection engineering and security monitoring.

You will build detections leveraging Microsoft Sentinel and IBM QRadar, map coverage to MITRE ATT&CK and other models, and collaborate across Threat Intelligence, Red Team, and Incident

Qualifications

• 8+ years in cybersecurity with 4+ years in detection engineering or threat detection.
• Proven experience building/leading enterprise detection programs.
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft Sentinel, IBM QRadar, threat detection, security monitoring, and threat intel integration.
• Strong scripting with Python and PowerShell; proficient in Git and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Establish and mature a detection engineering function, operating model, and roadmap.
• Define standards, governance, and quality frameworks for detection content.
• Lead and mentor detection engineers and security analysts.
• Present detection strategies and risk-based coverage assessments to senior stakeholders.
• Translate threat intel into prioritized detection requirements.
