Job summary

Wood Group is seeking an experienced Technical Safety Specialist for major offshore and onshore projects in the Middle East. You will provide technical safety expertise across design, construction, commissioning, and operations under a PMC framework.

The role requires deep knowledge of process safety, loss prevention, and risk management, with strong leadership and stakeholder management skills across multidisciplinary teams. Offshore experience and Middle East exposure are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Process, Safety, or related Engineering discipline.
• 15+ years of experience in technical safety, process safety, loss prevention, or fire and safety engineering in energy industries.
• Experience in PMC, EPC contractors, operators, or engineering consultancy environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate technical safety and loss prevention activities across all project phases.
• Act as PMC focal point for technical safety between client, EPC, engineering, operations and regulators.
• Review implementation of technical safety requirements in design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
• Develop and approve technical safety philosophies, design basis documents, specs, studies and calculations.
• Lead hazard identification and risk assessment activities (HAZID/HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, Bowtie).
• Review fire and gas detection, fire protection, hazardous area classification, and ESD systems.
