Job summary

ElsewedyElectric is seeking a senior Testing & Commissioning Engineer for substations in the UAE. You will develop plans, review docs, and lead activities for GIS/AIS, HV/MV systems, and protection schemes. You will ensure QA/QC, witness FAT/SAT, and coordinate with vendors to ensure successful project handover.

The role requires extensive field experience, strong problem-solving, and solid leadership to guide engineers and technicians toward on-time completion and client acceptance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10–15 years of experience in electrical projects.
• At least 5 years in testing & commissioning of substations (HV/MV).
• Experience in GIS/AIS substations up to 132kV / 220kV / 400kV is preferred.
• Previous experiences with TAQA.
• Strong knowledge of substation equipment and systems.
• Expertise in protection relays and testing equipment.
• Familiarity with SCADA and communication protocols.
• Leadership and team management skills.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Good communication and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed testing & commissioning plans, procedures, and schedules.
• Review project specifications, drawings, and vendor documents.
• Manage and supervise testing & commissioning activities for substation equipment, including: Power Transformers, GIS/AIS, MV/LV Switchgear, protection relays and control systems, cables and cable systems.
• Ensure all pre-commissioning checks and energization procedures are followed.
• Witness and approve FAT and SAT.
• Lead testing of protection schemes and configure protection relays.
• Verify SCADA integration and communication protocols.
• Coordinate with vendors for specialized testing and system integration.
• Maintain proper documentation and approve test reports/ commissioning records.
