Job summary

The National in Abu Dhabi is seeking a skilled sub-editor to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Head of Production, you will review, edit, and elevate content across digital, social, and print while preserving The National’s distinctive style and tone.

The ideal candidate has a graduate degree and at least six years in journalism, reporting and desktop publishing, with hands-on CMS experience, and fluent written and spoken English.

Qualifications

• A graduate degree or equivalent work experience.
• At least six years of experience in journalism, reporting, and desktop publishing.
• Hands-on experience with an editorial CMS.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Strong attention to detail, with a deep understanding of current affairs.

Responsibilities

• Edit stories, videos, newsletters, and social media posts with a keen eye for accuracy, grammar, and readability.
• Write engaging and SEO-optimised headlines for digital platforms and print editions.
• Collaborate closely with writers, editors, and production team members to produce high-quality content.
• Edit scripts for video and social media, ensuring they meet our standards for clarity and engagement.
• Manage content prioritisation, adapting to the demands of a fast-paced newsroom environment.
• Ensure all content adheres to The National’s style and tone while meeting tight deadlines.
