Job Summary
Job Summary The Senior Steel Electrical Technician supports the manufacturing operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing Electrical systems and equipment. They will assist Electrical Supervisor to ensure the smooth functioning of machinery used in the production process, thereby minimizing downtime and maximizing efficiency. This role requires strong Electrical aptitude and experience in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Installations, inspections, diagnosing faults, testing, repair and maintenance of electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures with voltage ratings up to 1000V.
- Perform general electrical work and preparation as directed by the supervisor.
- Monitor machines and maintain records of performance and maintenance.
- Obtain measurements and readings using electrical testing instruments, including digital multimeters, insulation testers, amp meters, ohm meters, and phase rotation meters.
- Perform electrical preventative maintenance, tag-out / lock-out, disconnecting and removing motors, and respond to emergencies.
- Identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair to ensure compliance with agreed codes, laws, working practices and health and safety requirements.
- Perform pipe bending and installation of electrical conduit and cable trunking materials for industrial wiring following relevant standards.
- Draw and read electrical schematics and diagrams.
- Immediately report problems or failures that may impact the organization or affect health and safety to the direct supervisor.
Job Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of safety requirements and safe working procedures when working with electrical equipment and machines.
- Knowledge in operation and maintenance of all types of electrical machines, instruments, lighting equipment, etc.
- Knowledge of different wiring systems and requisite knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials common to the trade.
- Ability to understand important documents such as work instructions, procedures, equipment manuals and electrical wiring or schematic diagrams and machine specification plates.
- Good communication skills to participate actively in teamwork as well as in individual work.
- Work with all electrical equipment with necessary safety requirements.
Experience & Education
Minimum 5 years of industrial working experience as an Electrical Technician.
