Job summary

GMG Gulf in Dubai, UAE seeks a Senior Buyer - Sports Retail to manage end-to-end purchasing for a sports-focused business unit. You will build assortments, source and negotiate with suppliers, and guide buying decisions using SAP, Power BI, and Excel in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

The role emphasizes market trend analysis, inventory optimization, and alignment with category managers to secure profitable assortments and timely delivery across seasons.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business or Supply Chain Management.
• Procurement certification.
• 5 years of procurement experience.
• 3 years of retail buying experience.
• SAP ERP knowledge is required.
• Proficiency in SAP and Power BI.

Responsibilities

• Lead product selection and procurement for assigned categories, developing assortments that reflect target consumer needs and brand positioning.
• Research market developments, competitor activity, consumer behavior, and emerging trends to identify assortment opportunities and range gaps.
• Negotiate supplier and vendor terms covering cost prices, payment conditions, rebates, delivery arrangements, and other commercial considerations.
• Manage purchase order placement, tracking, and follow-up to support on-time, in-full deliveries against seasonal calendars and promotional plans.
• Analyze sales, purchasing, stock, and inventory data using SAP, Power BI, Excel, and other relevant tools.
• Monitor inventory levels and forecast future product requirements to support effective buying decisions.
• Partner with Merchandising, Allocation, and Logistics teams to maintain efficient product flow and address supply chain challenges.
• Track purchasing performance against budgets and financial targets, recommending rebuys, cancellations, rephasing, or markdown support where appropriate.
• Evaluate supplier performance and maintain productive relationships while pursuing improvements in quality, service, and commercial terms.
• Ensure buying activities comply with company procurement policies, documentation requirements, and ethical guidelines.
• Prepare clear and accurate purchasing and performance reports for leadership.
• Provide buying expertise and guidance to Buyers and Assistant Buyers, supporting their development and promoting effective working practices.
