Position Overview
This Senior Specialist Trading Contracts role provides commercial, contractual, and compliance support across pre‑deal and post‑deal activities for the trading business. The position reviews, approves, and negotiates sales and purchase confirmations, amendments, term agreements, tenders, storage agreements, and counterparty terms. It ensures all trading contracts comply with company policies, mitigate risk, protect value, and support efficient trading operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide pre‑ and post‑deal commercial advice on deal structuring, commercial exposures, and value opportunities
- Review and approve draft sales and purchase confirmations, amendments, and counter‑offers to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Ensure all agreements comply with company policies, including compliance clauses, law, jurisdiction, confidentiality, and sovereign immunity
- Report deviations or breaches of policy via the Incident Management system
- Support drafting and negotiation of term deals, tender contracts, storage agreements, master agreements, and side letters
- Minimize contractual exposure and reduce profit leakage through strong contract structuring
- Assist with resolving contractual disputes and coordinate with the legal department when required
- Review third‑party terms and negotiate amendments to ensure policy alignment and risk control
- Act as gatekeeper for contract templates, clause libraries, and system entries
- Maintain accurate and compliant contract records in accordance with company policies
- Support onboarding and training of new employees on trading contracts
- Ensure compliance with company code of conduct and operational risk standards
- Assist in contract compliance initiatives and support the trading team in interpreting terms and conditions
- Support development and implementation of counterparty physical contract workflow processes
- Respond to management requests and maintain confidentiality at all times
- Represent the company professionally and adhere to corporate policies and procedures
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Contract Law, Legal, Commerce, or related field
- Master's degree or relevant professional qualification is an advantage
- 5+ years of experience within trading, operations, or legal functions in a trading company
- Minimum 2 years specifically in trading contracts management
- Strong understanding of trading operations, legal frameworks, Incoterms, tax, and regulatory requirements
- Ability to analyze complex contractual terms and identify exposures and value opportunities
- Excellent communication skills, negotiation capability, and attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work under pressure and meet hard deadlines
