Job summary

ELE Interior Design is seeking a proactive Project Engineer to manage costings, liaise with suppliers and contractors, and drive on-time delivery of luxury interior projects within budget and quality standards.

The role requires strong project management, site supervision, and the ability to review drawings, manage schedules, and control costs across high-end residential and hospitality projects in Dubai.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Architecture, Interior Design or related field.
• 2–3 years experience as a draughtsman or project engineer in interiors/architecture.

Responsibilities

• Oversee on-site activities ensuring quality, timelines and budget adherence.
• Review drawings and specs for cost feasibility and alignment with client requirements.
• Develop and manage detailed project schedules; coordinate with suppliers, contractors and design teams.
• Prepare and manage contracts with suppliers and subcontractors; ensure compliance with terms.
• Provide regular reports on cost performance, progress and risks; maintain records.

Job description

The Project Engineer role requires a proactive professional who can manage costings liaise with suppliers and contractors and ensure the successful delivery of projects within budget and to the highest standards of quality. The ideal candidate will have experience in luxury interiors a strong understanding of project management and an ability to oversee site operations efficiently.

Site Supervision

• Oversee and supervise on-site activities ensuring that all construction and design work meets the specified quality standards timelines and budgetary constraints.
• Monitor progress and liaise with site teams to resolve any issues or discrepancies that arise during the construction process.
• Maintain a routine schedule of site visits throughout the project lifecycle

Reviewing Drawings and Specifications::

• Thoroughly review architectural and design drawings to ensure accuracy and feasibility in terms of cost and materials.
• Ensure that all designs align with the projects budget schedule and client requirements.
• Provide feedback on design elements that could impact the cost or timeline of the project.

Scheduling and Timeline Management:

• Develop and manage detailed project schedules ensuring that all phases of the project are completed on time.
• Coordinate with suppliers contractors and design teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
• Ensure production team on time and on schedule and report to management any delays
• Regularly update stakeholders on project timelines delays or changes in the schedule

Supplier and Contractor Management::

• Liaise with suppliers and contractors to ensure that all materials and services are delivered on time to specification and within budget.
• Negotiate contracts terms and pricing with suppliers and contractors ensuring best value for the company.
• Oversee contractor performance ensuring they meet contractual obligations and quality standards.
• Tendering process and review BOQs
• Utilise and develop company software to enhance efficiency and data
• Ensure maintenance of materials library

Contract Administration:

• Prepare and manage contracts for suppliers subcontractors and other third parties.
• Ensure compliance with all contractual terms and conditions.
• Address any disputes or issues that arise between the company contractors or clients.
• Ensure client signs off on completion

Reporting and Documentation:

• Provide regular reports on cost performance site progress and potential risks.
• Maintain detailed and accurate records of all project-related financial transactions agreements and communications.
• Ensure that all documentation complies with legal and company standards.

Required Skills:

What Were Looking For: Education: Diploma or Degree in Architecture Interior Design or a related field. Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a draughtsman in the interior design or architectural industry. Software Proficiency: Expertise in AutoCAD Revit SketchUp and other relevant 3D modeling and rendering software. Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of interior design principles space planning and building codes. Attention to Detail: Ability to produce highly accurate technical drawings with excellent attention to detail. Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead a team mentor junior staff and manage workloads effectively. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders. Problem-Solving: Capable of identifying and resolving design and technical issues quickly and efficiently. Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with high-end residential and hospitality/commercial interior design projects. Certification in project management or design software.
