Job summary

Amazon's AWS Global Sales is seeking a GenAI/ML Area Specialist Solutions Architect (Senior IC) to drive strategic, data-driven initiatives for customers in Sub‑Saharan Africa. The role combines technical depth in AI/ML with business acumen to position AWS as the cloud provider of choice.

You will lead architectural reviews, engage with C‑suite leaders, and collaborate with sales and product teams to solve complex enterprise problems. Travel to regional customers quarterly is expected.

Qualifications

• 7 years design/implementation/consulting experience of distributed applications.
• 5 years management of technical customer-facing resources.
• 5 years of AI/ML service area technical experience.
• Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud.
• AWS Solution Architecture certification or relevant cloud expertise.

Do you love building new strategic and data‑driven businesses? Join the AWS Global Sales (AGS) organization as a GenAI / ML Area Specialist Solutions Architect (area is Sub‑Saharan Africa)!

AGS is responsible for driving revenue adoption and growth from the largest and fastest growing small‑ and mid‑market accounts to enterprise‑level customers, including the public sector and start‑ups.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide customers with deep technical expertise in Generative AI, Predictive AI, and Machine Learning with AWS products to meet their business objectives.
• Educate customers on the value proposition of AWS and participate in architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in the cloud.
• Collaborate with specialist sales, marketing, and product teams to ideate around your customers’ most challenging problems.
• Act as a trusted advisor to line‑of‑business AI, Data, and C‑suite leaders.
• Lead architectural reviews and workshops to advance your customers’ technical objectives.
• Act as a thought leader sharing best practices through forums such as AWS blogs, whitepapers, reference architectures, and public‑speaking events such as AWS Summit and AWS re:Invent. Participate as a leader in AWS technical communities.
• Provide data and anecdotes on what is working and what is not back to the larger specialist community and product teams. Act as the primary point of contact for urgent customer issues in your technical specialty.
• We prefer this candidate to have a track record of thought leadership and innovation around Machine Learning, be comfortable presenting to senior data and AI leaders, and demonstrate the ability to think strategically about business product and technical challenges in an enterprise environment.

Qualifications

• 7 years design/implementation/consulting experience of distributed applications
• 5 years management of technical customer‑facing resources
• 5 years of AI/ML service area technical experience
• Highly independent
• Experience in emerging markets and financial services
• Ability to travel within Sub‑Saharan Africa at least quarterly
• History of successful technical consulting and/or architectural engagements with large‑scale customers or enterprises
• Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud
• Familiarity with common enterprise services and working knowledge of software development tools and methodologies
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with executives, IT management, and developers
• Experience working within software development or Internet‑related industries
• AWS Solution Architecture certification or relevant cloud expertise
• Computer Science/relevant degree and/or experience highly desired
