Employment type Full-timeRole SummaryThe Senior Consultant leads delivery of enterprise risk management internal controls over financial reporting ICoFR SOX and risk-based internal audit engagements primarily for insurance banking and financial services clients in the UAE The role combines hands-on fieldwork with supervision of junior staff direct client contact and reporting to management and audit committees
Key Responsibilities
- ERM and risk assessment
- Design and implement ERM frameworks including risk registers risk appetite statements and escalation protocols aligned with regulatory expectationsRun risk assessments across finance operations procurement and IT and deliver risk-rated findings with practical recommendations
- ICoFR and SOX
- Lead ICoFR and SOX engagements document end-to-end processes identify key controls and map financial reporting risks to controlsDesign test plans and perform walkthroughs design and operating effectiveness testing and sample-based testingReport control deficiencies to audit committees and senior management and track remediation to closure
- Internal audit
- Plan and execute risk-based internal audits across diverse sectorsProduce clear evidence-based reports with prioritised remediation actionsSupport special reviews and forensic-style investigations where required
- Financial reporting and compliance
- Advise clients on the control and governance implications of accounting policy changes under IFRSSupport remediation of financial reporting deficiencies and regulatory compliance reviews
- Engagement and team management
- Manage engagement scope budget and timelines and flag risks early to the ManagerCoordinate cross-functional teams of auditors risk specialists and subject matter expertsSupervise and coach junior staff on testing methodology workpaper quality and client communication
- Client and business development
- Maintain strong relationships with client management and present findings to boards and audit committees alongside senior team membersContribute to proposals and identify follow-on advisory opportunities
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or a related field
- 5 years in risk advisory, internal audit, or ICoFR/SOX work, with a consulting or professional services firm
- Hands-on experience with ERM (COSO, ISO 31000) and ICoFR/SOX testing methodology
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS
- Experience with UAE insurance or banking clients
- Strong analytical, report-writing, and presentation skills
- Advanced Excel; experience with data visualisation tools (Tableau or Power BI) is a plus
Preferred
- Professional qualification such as CA, ACCA, CPA, CIA, CRISC, or CFA (completed or in progress)
- Experience with UAE regulators (Central Bank of the UAE, Insurance Authority requirements, DIFC, ADGM)
- Exposure to sectors such as real estate, infrastructure, hospitality, healthcare, and consumer and retail
- Experience with forensic or investigative work
- Knowledge of sustainability reporting standards (e.g., GRI)
