Job summary

Sener is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer – Earthworks to lead earthworks design for railway and metro projects across the region, with a focus on KSA developments. You will guide earthworks, grading, material balance, and constructability, coordinating with track, drainage, geotechnical, and other disciplines.

The role requires a minimum of 10 years in earthworks design, including 5 years on rail projects, and a relevant civil engineering degree.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of professional earthworks design experience.
• At least 5 years of earthworks design experience on rail projects is mandatory.
• Experience designing earthworks for major railway and metro projects.
• Strong experience in railway formation, grading, cut-and-fill assessment, slope design coordination, material balance, earthworks quantities, and constructability.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare and review earthworks calculations, drawings, digital models, reports, specifications, quantities, and technical submissions.
• Strong understanding of earthworks interfaces with track, alignment, drainage, geotechnical works, roads, structures, utilities, environmental requirements, and construction activities.
• Experience contributing to earthworks optimization, spoil management, borrow-source planning, mass-haul assessments, or construction sequencing.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Lead and undertake earthworks design activities across concept, preliminary, detailed, and tender design stages.
• Develop and review earthworks strategies, grading designs, cut-and-fill solutions, railway formation designs, slope geometries, and associated documentation.
• Prepare and review calculations, drawings, digital models, specifications, technical reports, quantities, and design submissions.
• Coordinate earthworks designs with railway alignment, track, drainage, geotechnical, roads, structures, utilities, environmental, and construction disciplines.
• Support earthworks optimization, material balance assessments, spoil management strategies, borrow-source planning, and mass-haul considerations.
• Assess constructability, ground conditions, slope interfaces, drainage requirements, environmental constraints, and construction sequencing.
• Identify and resolve design issues, earthworks risks, multidisciplinary interfaces, and technical coordination conflicts.
• Provide technical guidance to junior and intermediate engineers while supporting the delivery of high-quality design packages.
