About the job: Senior QA Engineer - GDS & Interline System
We're seeking a highly experienced Senior QA Engineer to be deployed with our airline client, a major international airline headquartered in Dubai, within their Distribution & Revenue Technology function. This role is the primary quality gate for all GDS and interline distribution systems, owning end-to-end test design and execution across Amadeus, Sabre, and Travelport. The successful candidate will validate fare filing integrity, interline pricing accuracy, SSR transmission workflows, and PSS/DCS integration correctness — and will lead testing cycles for major product launches such as new cabin introductions and market expansions.
Key Responsibilities
- GDS Functionality Testing: Design and execute test cases for availability, fare display, pricing, booking, and ticketing across Amadeus, Sabre, and Travelport.
- Validate cabin mapping, booking class configuration, and inventory management in each GDS platform. Test Bargain Finder Max (BFM), Amadeus Fare Quote, and Travelport Universal API responses for pricing correctness.
- Verify Branded Fares (ATPCO Category 204) display correctly with fare family attributes in GDS shopping results.
- Validate PNR construction including OSI/SSR generation, ticketing time limits, and queue placement. Test end-to-end e-ticket issuance including fare basis code, tax calculation, and baggage allowance display.
- Interline Functionality Testing: Test interline pricing – NUC construction, ROE application, Chart 2 currency mapping, and through fare build.
- Validate Category 10 combination rules for interline fare pairing across carriers.
- Verify SSR transmission (CBBW, CBBJ, SEAT, MEAL, FQTV) from originating carrier to operating carrier PNR.
- Test interline e-ticketing – verify coupon attribution, class of service, and fare basis per segment.
- Validate IATA prorate calculations and interline billing via BSP/ICH settlement reports.
- Test interline availability sell and inventory decrement on partner carrier systems, including PSS & DCS integration testing.
- Test cabin configuration in PSS (Amadeus Altéa, Sabre SynXis, SITA) including seat maps and boarding rules.
- Validate DCS check-in reads CBBW/CBBJ SSRs and applies correct baggage allowances at the gate.
- Test FFP/loyalty mileage accrual rates for new cabin configurations across partner and interline itineraries.
- Verify schedule change processing and queue management for affected bookings across GDS and PSS.
- Test Management & Reporting: Design comprehensive test plans, test scripts, and traceability matrices for GDS and distribution implementations; lead UAT sessions with reservations, ticketing, revenue management, and interline partner teams; manage defect lifecycle – log, triage, track, and verify resolution of P1–P4 defects; produce test summary reports with pass/fail metrics, defect trends, and go/no‑go recommendations for senior leadership; contribute to go‑live readiness assessments and post‑launch regression testing cycles.
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience of 6+ years in QA roles within airline, GDS, or travel technology environments; 5–8 years total QA experience.
- Hands‑on testing experience on at least 2 of the 3 major GDS platforms: Amadeus, Sabre, and Travelport.
- ATPCO & Fares: Demonstrated experience testing ATPCO fare filing outputs including rule categories, OBIF, and baggage tables.
- Interline Testing: Proven track record leading interline testing – pricing, SSR transmission, and interline ticketing workflows.
- PSS Systems Experience: PSS platforms such as Amadeus Altéa, Sabre SynXis, or SITA Departure Control.
- Involvement in at least one major airline distribution implementation: new cabin, new market, or NDC launch.
- Business Analysis: Strong business analysis capability – ability to interpret requirements, write test scenarios, and bridge technical and commercial teams.
