Senior Project Cost Controller (Fire Protection)

Job summary

NAFFCO in Dubai is seeking a Senior Project Cost Accountant to manage and control project financials for fire protection projects. You will ensure accurate job costing, timely billing, forecasting, and compliance with accounting policies, partnering with Project Managers, Procurement and Finance.

You will lead cost reporting, WIP reconciliation and commercial analysis to protect margins and support decision-making across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years' experience in project cost accounting in construction or building services.
• Solid understanding of BOQs, variation orders, claims, retention, and revenue recognition.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to present findings to non-financial stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Maintain project cost ledgers and record labour, materials, subcontractor costs, plant and overhead allocations.
• Prepare and review monthly cost reports, cost-to-complete analyses, forecasts and margin reconciliations.
• Support preparation and submission of monthly progress claims, interim valuations and final accounts.
• Monitor subcontractor invoicing and retention; validate payment applications with Contracts and Procurement.
• Reconcile project WIP, revenue recognition and deferred revenue; ensure timely closing of projects.
• Analyse cost drivers and highlight root causes with corrective actions to improve performance.
• Prepare accruals, provisions and month-end journal entries for audits.
• Review BOQs, change orders and variations; assess commercial impact and contract treatment.
• Support budgeting and tender costing with historical data, rates and risk estimates.
• Maintain internal controls over expenses, purchasing and payroll allocations.
