Job Overview
The Principal IT Pillar Specialist uses best practices and will work with cross-functional teams to create virtual models for the Digital Twin that integrate data from multiple sources, providing actionable insights for system optimization and strategic decision-making. The role will be critical in bridging the gap between the physical and digital worlds to drive efficiency, innovation, and operational excellence for our clients and within McDermott. They solve complex problems and use their discipline‑specific knowledge to improve adoption of Digital Twin solution. Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and identify opportunities for improving overall Cybersecurity.
They may be responsible for leading functional teams or projects and are regarded as a specialist in the field of IT Pillar. As such, they must have in‑depth expertise in the IT Pillar as well as broad knowledge of the IT Pillar discipline within the Information Technology function.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and implement end-to-end Digital Twin solutions that meet project requirements
- Work with Digital System Integrators and internal IT teams to implement Digital Twin solutions
- Integrate data from diverse sources, including IoT sensors, SCADA systems, enterprise databases, and simulation platforms, into the Digital Twin environment.
- Collaborate the development of forecasting models for large projects, metadata management, and data integration
- Provide input for functional and technical design and then deliver on the development of those design decisions
- Assist in SIT and UAT of various Digital Twin and associated developments
- Work with business and IT teams to disposition incidents as either a bug or an enhancement and drive a regular prioritization of their respective execution
- Define requirements in accordance with SDLC, management, and project/product scope Ensure problem statements and objectives are clearly defined
- Ensure requirements are aligned with project scope, objectives, and strategies
- Analyze business process flow and use case; create business requirements for any system or process changes necessary to ensure efficient and seamless operations
- Provide weekly status updates on progress toward deliverables and milestones
- Perform conceptual, FEED, and detailed analyses and design as per design basis, project specifications, for Digital Twin requirements
- Interface with other departments & Client representatives to obtain input for solution design and use case detailing
- Raise technical queries to obtain missing information, clarify work scope, and maintain preferred McDermott procedures, specifications, standards, practices, and operational requirements
- Develop and maintain the departmental technical guidelines for the Digital Twin practice
- Requirements with company goals and coordinate various managers and technical personnel during all project phases
- Establish and maintain strong partnerships with project owners and stakeholders, ensuring transparent communication
- Participate in design workshops, project alignment meetings and testing of solutions as required
- Develop timely project status reports
- Assure that deviations from the project schedule are addressed and communicated
- Drive continuous improvement within the practices and proactively process enhancements to solutions basis the lessons learned

Essential Qualifications and Education
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- A minimum of 4 to 6 years of Digital project implementation in the Oil & Gas industry
- Proven track record of evaluating & selection of IT solutions leading to an on time delivery, within budget, and with high customer satisfaction
- Prior experience with specific industry Digital Twin applications (e.g., Engineering, Construction, O&M).
- Experience with simulation platforms such as MATLAB/Simulink or HYSYS.
- Knowledge of machine learning (ML) and ML Ops principles is desirable.
- Experience with solution mapping and architecture design
- Experience with major cloud service providers is desirable.
- Experience with building and deploying models in cloud‑native environments is a plus
- Knowledge of IT/OT Cybersecurity essentials for system design
- Familiarity with data integration techniques and APIs
- Proficiency in project management software and tools
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
