Job summary

Mc Dermott is looking for a Senior Principal HSE Engineer specializing in fire protection and safety in Dubai, UAE. The position requires leading complex engineering design for high-value oil and gas projects while ensuring compliance with international safety standards.

The ideal candidate must possess at least 20 years of experience in the oil and gas sector and a robust background in detailed engineering design, particularly in fire protection systems. Strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor teams are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 20 years of oil and gas industry experience with major EPC contractors or consultants.
• Strong background in detailed engineering design for offshore and onshore facilities.
• Deep expertise in fire protection systems, safety studies, and HSE engineering standards.
• Strong knowledge of international design codes, offshore standards, and compliance requirements.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams on large-scale complex projects.
• Professional Engineer registration or membership in a recognized engineering body (preferred).
• Excellent presentation, communication, and technical leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform conceptual, FEED, and detailed design analysis based on project specifications, codes, standards, and design basis requirements.
• Lead fire protection and safety engineering activities for assigned project scopes within budget and schedule targets.
• Coordinate and lead HAZID, HAZOP, and other safety workshops while ensuring proper documentation and close‑out of actions.
• Review vendor and subcontractor submissions for compliance with project and customer specifications.
• Supervise engineers and designers, assign resources, and guide team performance across discipline deliverables.
