Purpose of the Role
To provide senior-level piping design support for a fast-track brownfield capacity enhancement project, with strong focus on detailed engineering quality, site verification, 3D model maturity, tie-in constructability, and multidisciplinary coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering and Piping Design
- Develop detailed piping layouts, equipment arrangements, routing studies, and piping general arrangement drawings for brownfield gas processing facilities.
- Prepare, check, and update piping deliverables including plot plans, equipment layouts, piping GAs, isometrics, tie-in drawings, support drawings, MTOs, underground routing drawings, and piping location plans.
- Perform and maintain 3D modelling using Smart 3D / SP3D in accordance with approved P&IDs, project specifications, and design basis requirements.
- Identify design clashes, space constraints, access issues, and constructability concerns, and support resolution through model reviews and interdisciplinary coordination.
Brownfield and Site Engineering
- Conduct site surveys, site verification, and existing facility checks to validate routing, tie-in points, pipe rack availability, access, and constructability.
- Support development of tie-in philosophies, shutdown execution inputs, and brownfield modification packages.
- Assist in hot tap and tie-in feasibility assessments, including review of existing piping, isolation philosophy, field accessibility, and operational constraints.
- Capture site findings and ensure they are incorporated into the 3D model, design deliverables, and construction work packs.
Interface and Multidisciplinary Coordination
- Coordinate closely with Process, Mechanical, Stress, Civil/Structural, Instrumentation, Electrical, Construction, and Procurement teams.
- Incorporate stress analysis requirements into piping layouts, support concepts, and flexibility-critical routing.
- Participate in 30%, 60%, and 90% model reviews, constructability reviews, HAZOP / design review sessions, and technical coordination meetings.
- Raise and resolve technical queries, design clarifications, interface issues, and change inputs in a timely manner.
Mandatory Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Design, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of piping design experience in the oil and gas industry.
- Minimum 10 years of detailed engineering experience on EPC / EPCM projects.
- Strong brownfield modification, revamp, debottlenecking, or capacity enhancement project experience.
- Proven experience working on ADNOC, Middle East, or comparable gas processing facility projects.
- Sound understanding of piping layout, equipment arrangement, pipe routing, support coordination, and constructability requirements.

- Shutdown, turnaround, hot tap, tie-in, and brownfield implementation packages.
- Fast-track detailed engineering projects requiring parallel site verification, modelling, and procurement support.
