Job summary

Crown Paper Mill seeks an experienced Automation Engineer to program, maintain, and optimize automation and control systems across the tissue mill, improving process reliability and production efficiency.

The ideal candidate has deep PLC/DCS/HMI experience, instrumental knowledge, and strong troubleshooting across industrial networks, with 5+ years in continuous process manufacturing, preferably tissue or paper mills.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Automation, Instrumentation & Control, or Electrical Engineering.
5+ years of direct automation and control systems experience in continuous process manufacturing—ideally tissue/paper.
Programming and troubleshooting major industrial systems (Siemens Step 7/TIA Portal, ABB, Valmet DCS, Rockwell).
Deep understanding of Profibus, Profinet, Modbus, Ethernet/IP.
Familiarity with paper machine systems like QCS is advantageous.
Strong troubleshooter with clear communication under pressure.

Responsibilities

Program, configure, and modify PLC, DCS, and HMI/SCADA systems for continuous process improvements.
Troubleshoot PID control issues on tissue machine parameters and optimize equipment performance.
Lead automation scope for new equipment installations, upgrades, and shutdowns; update loop drawings and P&IDs.
Ensure SIS/ESD safety compliance and work with maintenance teams during complex breakdowns.
