Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a Mechatronics Engineer based in Abu Dhabi to support integration of electromechanical actuation, sensing, and control subsystems for the Omen platform. You will collaborate with our Costa Mesa team and regional partners to enable hover-to-cruise transitions and integrate sensor modules.

Responsibilities include payload integration end to end, sensor characterization on bench and in flight, and writing production software for payload subsystems.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering background in mechatronics, robotics, electrical engineering, aerospace, computer science, or physics.
• 4+ years of hands-on electromechanical and sensor integration experience in robotics or aerospace.
• Basic proficiency in scripting/programming (e.g., Python, MATLAB, C++, Bash or Rust) for testing and data collection.
• Proficiency across a meaningful portion of the robotics stack, from sensor interfacing to actuation.
• Solid grasp of low-level communications (Ethernet, CAN, UART, SPI, I2C), real-time systems, and motor control.
• Experience with sensor characterization, calibration, and coordinate frame management (cameras, IMUs, encoders, GNSS, LIDAR).
• Experience building hardware test rigs with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMMs, and test automation.
• Ability to read schematics, support board bring-up, and define harnesses; familiarity with CAD tools (SolidWorks, NX).
• High ownership and a bias toward action.
• Ability to travel ~25% (with potential surges).

Responsibilities

• Bridge the mission system team and air vehicle teams, ensuring alignment.
• Own payload hardware integration end to end: EO/IR, imaging sensors, RF payloads, gimbals, rangefinders, sensing.
• Drive mission system selection through trade studies balancing performance, SWaP, thermal, latency, and robustness.
• Interface with regional customers and partners to align end-user requirements.
• Characterize sensors on bench and in flight: noise, latency, bias, drift, boresight stability, failure modes.
• Define and own payload interface control; harnessing, power and signal definitions, time sync.
• Write production software/firmware for payload subsystems: drivers, sensor processing, control loops, calibration libraries.
• Support aircraft integration, bring-up, test campaigns for payload performance.
• Lead root-cause investigations for payload and pointing anomalies across boundaries.
• Feed lessons learned back into ICDs, procedures, assembly and acceptance tests.
