Job summary

Emirates Islamic is seeking a Shariah Compliance professional to strengthen governance under the Head of Shariah Compliance. The role focuses on structured monitoring, reviewing policies, and coordinating input with regulators and audits to uphold Shariah standards across the Bank.

The position supports reporting on regulatory matters, GRC activities, and staff awareness initiatives to reinforce Shariah compliance throughout the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Islamic Finance, Shariah or a related discipline.
• Experience in finance, advisory, analysis, risk, compliance, assurance or reporting.
• Exposure to Shariah compliance training and professional development is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assigned Shariah compliance monitoring and reviews using approved checklists and draft reports.
• Support reviews of profit distribution, financial statements and Zakat calculations through analysis.
• Assist in reviewing policies, procedures, products and services against requirements.
• Support gap assessments of regulatory notices and track corrective actions.
• Prepare information for regulatory responses, audits and staff training.

Job description

The Shariah Control unit supports the Bank’s adherence to applicable Shariah governance requirements, regulatory expectations, and resolutions issued by the Higher Shariah Authority (HSA) and Internal Shariah Supervision Committee (ISSC). Through structured monitoring, reviews, analysis and reporting, the unit helps identify potential Shariah non-compliance risks and follows up on corrective actions with relevant stakeholders. Under the guidance of the Head of Shariah Compliance, it reviews relevant policies, procedures, products and financial activities, coordinates specialist input, supports regulatory and audit requirements, and promotes staff awareness to strengthen Shariah compliance across the Bank.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct assigned Shariah compliance monitoring and reviews using approved checklists, document findings and prepare draft reports for the Head’s review.
• Support reviews of profit distribution, financial statements and Zakat calculations through analysis and reconciliation, referring technical matters to relevant specialists.
• Assist in reviewing policies, procedures, NPPAs, products and services against approved requirements, coordinating specialist input where necessary.
• Support gap assessments of regulatory notices, monitor implementation of HSA and ISSC resolutions, and coordinate with relevant departments to track corrective actions and elevate outstanding matters.
• Prepare supporting information for regulatory responses, coordinate evidence for audits and inspections, and support staff awareness and training activities.

Qualification & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Islamic Finance, Shariah or a related discipline.
• Relevant experience in finance, advisory, analysis, risk, compliance, assurance or reporting; exposure across different organizations or functions is an advantage.
• Exposure to control reviews, risk assessments, due diligence or compliance activities is desirable; direct Shariah compliance experience is an advantage.
• Demonstrated learning agility and willingness to undertake relevant Shariah compliance training and professional development.
