Job summary

Salt seeks a Staff SDE – Java Backend to lead architecture, multi-team initiatives and scalable distributed systems. You will mentor engineers, shape technical strategy, and drive AI-assisted development to boost productivity across the engineering org.

You will collaborate with Product, Architecture, DevOps and cross-functional teams, translating complex requirements into pragmatic, scalable solutions while championing secure, reliable cloud-native designs.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional Java backend experience.
• Deep expertise in Java, J2EE, Spring, Spring Boot and microservices.
• Experience shipping scalable, high-availability systems in microservices environments.
• Experience with Kafka, JMS and distributed patterns.
• Hands-on with Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of databases (Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB).
• Cloud experience on Azure/AWS/GCP.
• Excellent debugging, problem solving and system thinking.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Drive technical strategy and architecture for complex distributed systems and core platform components.
• Own end-to-end delivery of high-impact, multi-team initiatives.
• Translate business requirements into pragmatic technical solutions.
• Define roadmaps and ensure timely execution across teams.
• Architect, develop, and optimize microservices using Java stack.
• Design scalable cloud-native applications on Azure/AWS/GCP.
• Lead architecture reviews and deep-dive sessions.
• Mentor engineers and participate in hiring and growth.
