Role Purpose
Execute assigned audit engagements from preliminary planning through fieldwork, reporting and closure. Evaluate the design and operation of internal controls, document evidence, identify material risks and recommend practical improvements. Support periodic risk assessments, annual audit planning and reporting to senior management and the Audit Committee.
Key Responsibilities
- Risk-Based Audit Planning - Contribute to periodic enterprise risk assessments and preparation of the Annual Audit Plan. Understand the objectives, activities, principal risks and controls of assigned business processes. Prepare risk and control matrices and detailed audit programs for review and approval. Identify high-risk areas and define suitable testing procedures, including information systems audit techniques and statistical sampling where appropriate. Provide inputs to management and Audit Committee updates on audit delivery, control weaknesses and governance matters.
- Audit Fieldwork and Evidence - Perform audit procedures in accordance with approved programs and professional internal auditing standards. Examine records, systems and supporting evidence to evaluate control effectiveness and process efficiency. Maintain accurate working papers and audit evidence in the automated Audit Management System. Confirm that audit coverage and evidence are sufficient to support findings and conclusions. Escalate significant issues promptly and propose changes to audit scope when justified, subject to management approval. Review the work of assigned junior auditors and ensure adherence to internal audit quality requirements.
- Reporting and Follow-Up - Draft clear audit reports covering findings, root concerns, risk implications and recommended corrective actions. Discuss observations and proposed improvements with audit management and relevant business stakeholders. Review responses to draft and final reports and track management action plans. Assess whether corrective measures have adequately addressed audit recommendations through follow-up reviews. Support preparation of progress reports and management information on audit activities.
- Governance and Stakeholder Coordination - Contribute to improvements in corporate governance, enterprise risk management, ethics and the code of conduct. Assist with Audit Committee meeting arrangements, agendas, minutes and governance-related submissions. Coordinate audit activities with operational management, ADNOC Group companies and relevant functional leaders. Liaise, when required, with external auditors, assurance providers, internal audit service providers and the Abu Dhabi Accountability Authority. Participate in special reviews, advisory committees, workshops and internal audit awareness sessions.
- Audit Methodology and Team Development - Support enhancement of internal audit procedures, charters and the automated audit management platform. Research professional standards and benchmark audit practices to identify opportunities for improvement. Share knowledge across Group audit functions and contribute to specialist training initiatives. Supervise assigned activities, guide junior team members and support departmental performance objectives. Provide budget and work-plan inputs, identify significant variances and follow applicable company policies. Comply with relevant HSE, sustainability, legal and operational requirements during office and site assignments.

Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor 's degree in Finance, Auditing or a relevant discipline.
- At least 8 years of relevant internal auditing experience, including exposure to oil and gas operations and corporate-function risks.
- Familiarity with the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) and its application to internal audit engagements.
- Experience monitoring time spent on audit assignments and using business applications to obtain and verify information.
- Ability to engage with managers and senior stakeholders across ADNOC and its Group companies.
Professional Certifications
Audit-related professional certifications such as CA, CPA, CIA, CISA, ACCA or CIMA.
Technical Skills
- Risk and Control Matrix development; risk-based audit planning; internal control testing; audit sampling; information systems audit techniques; audit working papers; automated audit management systems; corrective action tracking; governance and risk reporting; professional internal audit standards.
