Job summary

WSP in the UAE is seeking a Senior Engineer - Water (Hydrology & Stormwater) to lead hydrology design, stormwater management and drainage for major infrastructure and land development programs across the Emirate. You will undertake hydrological modelling, prepare technical reports and support authority submissions, ensuring compliance with local standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering or related discipline with 8+ years' UAE experience.
• Experience delivering infrastructure and land development projects in the UAE.
• Strong modelling principles in hydrology and hydraulics and concise reporting.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking a talented Senior Engineer - Water (Hydrology & Stormwater) to join our Transport & Infrastructure business unit in the UAE. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and delivery of hydrology, stormwater management, and drainage solutions for major infrastructure and land development projects across the Emirate.

This position is ideal for an experienced hydrology professional with 8+ years of relevant experience who is looking to contribute to complex multidisciplinary projects while developing their technical leadership capabilities. The role will involve undertaking hydrological and hydraulic analyses, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, supporting authority submissions, and delivering innovative and sustainable stormwater solutions.

You will work closely with senior technical leaders and project teams to ensure high-quality project delivery while supporting the continued growth of the hydrology and stormwater discipline.

Responsibilities:

Hydrology & Stormwater Design

• Undertake hydrological assessments, drainage studies, flood risk analyses, and stormwater management designs for infrastructure and land development projects.
• Perform hydrological and hydraulic modelling, including rainfall analysis, runoff calculations, flood modelling, and drainage network assessments.
• Develop sustainable drainage solutions and support climate-resilient infrastructure design.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, design drawings, and modelling outputs.
• Ensure designs comply with local authority requirements and industry standards.

Project Delivery & Coordination

• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Support project managers and technical leads in delivering projects on time and within budget.
• Assist in identifying design risks, constraints, and opportunities throughout project development.
• Participate in project design reviews and technical workshops.
• Support the preparation of authority submissions and approval documentation.

Client & Stakeholder Support

• Participate in client meetings and technical discussions.
• Support responses to authority comments and technical review submissions.
• Assist with stakeholder coordination and project communication activities.
• Contribute to maintaining positive client and authority relationships.

Technical Development & Quality

• Conduct technical analyses and quality checks on project deliverables.
• Support junior engineers and contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Stay current with evolving hydrology practices, modelling tools, and sustainability requirements.
• Maintain high standards of technical quality and project delivery.

Business Support

• Support proposal preparation, technical studies, and bid activities.
• Assist senior leadership with project planning and technical inputs.
• Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement initiatives within the discipline.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8+ years of experience specialising in hydrology, stormwater management, and drainage design.
• Experience delivering infrastructure and land development projects within the UAE.
• Strong technical knowledge of hydrological and hydraulic modelling principles.
• Proficiency with software such as InfoWorks ICM, HEC-RAS, Flood Modeller, StormCAD, MicroDrainage, Civil 3D, or equivalent.
• Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams on infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with local authority requirements, standards, and approval processes.
• Strong report writing, analytical, and technical problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and client interaction skills.
• Working towards Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation is desirable.
