About the job SENIOR ELECTRICAL DESIGNER
The Senior Electrical Designer will be responsible for leading the preparation, coordination, and checking of electrical design deliverables for onshore oil & gas projects during the Engineering Phase (FEED, Detailed Engineering, and Detail Design). The role requires solid technical expertise in electrical drafting and design, comprehensive knowledge of ADNOC standards, and the ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the development and preparation of electrical design drawings and layouts, including: Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), Lighting, Earthing, and Small Power layouts, Cable routing, trench, and tray layouts, Substation layouts and equipment general arrangements
- Prepare and review cable schedules, interconnection diagrams, termination drawings, and MTOs in coordination with the engineering team.
- Check and verify design drawings prepared by junior designers or drafters to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with ADNOC and project standards.
- Ensure all designs comply with ADNOC Engineering Standards (ADES/AGES) and international codes (IEC, IEEE, BS, NEC, etc.).
- Coordinate closely with Process, Mechanical, Instrumentation, Civil, and Piping disciplines to ensure proper design integration and consistency.
- Assist in preparing design deliverables lists, drawing registers, and material take-offs.
- Support design reviews, model reviews (2D/3D), and inter-discipline coordination meetings.
- Review vendor drawings and ensure compatibility with project design requirements.
- Ensure timely delivery of all electrical design deliverables in line with project schedules and quality objectives.
- Mentor and guide junior designers/drafters in producing high-quality deliverables.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma or Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- 10-15 years of experience in electrical design for onshore oil & gas projects during FEED, Detailed Engineering, and Detail Design phases.
- Mandatory ADNOC project experience (minimum one completed FEED or Detailed Design project for ADNOC Onshore / ADNOC Gas).
- Proven expertise in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and familiarity with SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL) or SmartPlant 3D / Navisworks.
- Strong understanding of ADNOC standards, procedures, and drawing deliverable requirements.
- Thorough knowledge of electrical systems design (power distribution, earthing, lighting, cable routing, etc.) in oil & gas facilities.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and organizational skills.
- Immediate availability to join in Abu Dhabi.
- Experience in brownfield modification and tie‑in projects.
- Knowledge of 3D design environments and model review platforms (SP3D, Navisworks).
- Familiarity with engineering document management systems (EDMS) such as Aconex, SmartPlant Foundation.
- Ability to lead a small design team and coordinate with discipline leads.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to design quality.
