Job summary

Sener is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to join its Rail & Metro team in the UAE. You will lead cybersecurity activities across design stages, develop requirements, perform risk and threat assessments, and coordinate across signaling, control, telecoms, and power systems to ensure secure railway operations.

The role requires deep knowledge of OT/ICS, rail cybersecurity standards, and strong communication skills in English.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• 12–13 years of overall engineering experience.
• Minimum 10 years of mandatory Rail & Metro experience.
• Proven experience in cybersecurity engineering for Rail & Metro or other safety‑critical transportation environments.
• Strong understanding of OT, ICS, and railway control systems.
• Knowledge of railway cybersecurity standards such as EN 50701, IEC 62443, ISO 27001, NIST, or equivalent.
• Experience coordinating cybersecurity requirements across railway systems and interfaces.
• Experience reviewing cybersecurity requirements, architectures, supplier submissions, and security documentation.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

• Lead cybersecurity engineering activities across concept, preliminary, detailed, and IFC design stages.
• Develop and maintain cybersecurity requirements, security control specifications, threat models, risk registers, and mitigation strategies.
• Conduct cybersecurity risk, threat, vulnerability, and security impact assessments for railway systems and infrastructure.
• Coordinate cybersecurity requirements across Signaling, Train Control, Telecoms, SCADA, OCC, MEP, Power, and other railway systems.
• Review system architectures, network architectures, technical specifications, design documents, and supplier proposals to identify cybersecurity risks.
• Define cybersecurity requirements for system interfaces, communications networks, remote access, data exchange, and third-party systems.
• Review contractor and system supplier cybersecurity submissions, technical documentation, design proposals, and compliance evidence.
• Coordinate cybersecurity requirements with clients, contractors, system suppliers, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Support cybersecurity verification, design assurance, security validation, and testing activities.
• Provide technical leadership during system integration, installation, testing, and commissioning.
• Ensure cybersecurity requirements remain traceable through design changes and handover.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to cybersecurity engineers and stakeholders.

• Experience reviewing cybersecurity requirements, system architectures, technical specifications, supplier submissions, and security documentation.
• Understanding of network security, segmentation, firewalls, secure remote access, identity and access management, encryption, monitoring, and incident response.
• Experience supporting cybersecurity design assurance, system integration, testing, and commissioning.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with international engineering consultancies.
• Experience working with railway system integrators or major rail contractors.
• Experience in cybersecurity for automated railway systems and safety‑critical environments.
• Familiarity with GCC and UAE project requirements.
• Professional cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or equivalent.
• Experience supporting systems installation, integration, testing, commissioning, and technical verification.
