Job summary

Wood is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee and coordinate all on-site activities for a high-profile oil and gas project in the UAE. You will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage interface with clients and contractors, monitor progress, and implement in-house construction management procedures.

Qualifications

  • 20+ years Oil & Gas industry experience preferred.
  • Experience on major capital projects (>$500M)
  • Excellent communication skills in English, written and verbal.

The key objectives for this role are:
  • Assures the quality and integrity of each project, bringing projects in on schedule and within budget
  • Using in-house construction management procedures and experience, provide continuity and consistency of construction management with quality assurance and reliable control

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for construction and contractor related deliverables
  • Supervises all areas on small projects and / or a subset / discipline on larger projects
  • Responsible for management and execution of multiple field disciplines or a subset of assigned construction project(s) in accordance with the requirements of the contract between the company and the client, and in accordance with the company’s operating policies and principles
  • Responsible for execution of the work in accordance with the quality standards and requirements specified for the project
  • Manages and controls project cost and schedule of assigned disciplines / subset of on site construction
  • Management of installation, commissioning and completion activities of materials and equipment
  • Coordinates field personnel work schedules to maximize utilization and ensure work is delivered on schedule
  • Ability to monitor work progress and report against the plan
  • Ensure safety, quality and environmental responsibilities and accountabilities have been defined and communicated to workers engaged within their area(s) of control
  • Ensure all workers within their area(s) of control receive appropriate training to perform their work in a safe, legal and competent manner including any Health and Safety and site-specific inductions
  • Initiate safety, quality and environmental processes within their area(s) of control, including toolbox meetings, inspections, and the identification, assessment and control of risks in accordance with Wood and client requirements
  • Manages and controls project cost and schedule of assigned discipline / subset of on site construction. Utilize Commercial processes to capture variations effectively
  • Coordinate supply and delivery of equipment, subcontractors, consumables, accommodation and other project-specific requirements, in accordance with client/contract document specifications and in accordance with Wood Policies & Procedures
  • Understand and manage the industrial relations environment impacting the site and report any issues as required
  • Works with engineering in the design phases to influence the design for optimum constructability

Expected
  • Degree with a minimum of 20 years Oil and Gas industry experience, including at least 5 years on major capital projects, (> 500 M USD) with Construction Management and Site Management focus
  • Experience within an Oil and Gas operating company is also highly desired and may be considered in lieu of capital project experience
  • Must have excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, with a strong command of the English language.
  • Must be willing to travel extensively for multi-week periods and have the flexibility to adjust work location to support project needs
  • Must be qualified to obtain a CICPA and a UAE work visa
