Job summary

Sharkhood Tech in the United Arab Emirates (Dubai) is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer with deep Node.js expertise to join our platform engineering team. You will own design and implementation of scalable backend systems, manage large datasets, and build high-performance REST APIs using Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS/ExpressJS, and MongoDB.

Expect to optimize architecture, integrate external data sources, and collaborate across Product, Web, Data, and AI teams while driving production

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Backend Software Engineering experience.
• Strong Node.js and TypeScript expertise; NestJS/ExpressJS experience.
• Experience with MongoDB/Mongoose and large datasets.
• Proven experience with Redis, background jobs, and message queues.
• Familiarity with Docker, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer with strong experience in Node.js and data-intensive applications to join our engineering team.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience building scalable backend systems, working with large and complex datasets, designing high-performance APIs, and integrating multiple external data sources.

This is a senior, hands-on engineering role. We are looking for someone who can take ownership, solve complex backend and data challenges, and contribute to technical architecture decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Required Experience

• Strong professional experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Strong experience with NestJS and/or ExpressJS.
• Strong experience with MongoDB and Mongoose.
• Proven experience working with large or complex datasets.
• Strong understanding of data modeling and database optimization.
• Experience building and optimizing REST APIs.
• Experience integrating multiple third-party APIs and external data sources.
• Experience with Redis and background job processing.
• Experience with BullMQ and/or RabbitMQ.
• Experience with Docker, Git, and CI/CD.
• Good understanding of scalable backend architecture and microservices.
• Strong debugging and performance optimization skills.

Data Engineering Experience

Strong experience in at least some of the following:

• Data ingestion and processing
• Data transformation and normalization
• Entity matching and deduplication
• Large-scale database operations
• Data quality and validation
• ETL / data pipelines
• Scheduled and background data processing
• High-volume API integrations

AI Integration

Experience integrating AI services or LLMs is a strong advantage, including:
