Job summary

WalkingTree Technologies in Abu Dhabi, UAE, is seeking an experienced Backend Engineer (Networking & Routing Protocols) to design, develop, and optimize backend services for cloud-native architectures. The role emphasizes scalable distributed systems, secure auth (OAuth2, JWT, mTLS), and high-performance APIs using Go, Rust, or Java.

You will work with Kubernetes, Docker, and VPN technologies, contributing to production-grade software and collaborating across engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Experience with distributed backend systems and cloud-native applications.
• Experience with networking technologies and enterprise backend platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and distributed microservices.
• Develop high-performance applications using Go, Rust, or Java.
• Build and optimize RESTful APIs and gRPC-based services.
• Implement secure authentication and authorization using OAuth2, JWT, and mTLS.
• Develop networking features supporting routing protocols and VPN technologies.
• Integrate SNMP for monitoring and network management.
• Deploy and manage applications using Kubernetes and Docker.
• Optimize application performance through concurrent programming techniques.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams throughout the lifecycle.
• Troubleshoot backend applications and improve reliability and scalability.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.
• Ensure secure, maintainable, and production-ready software solutions.
