Job summary

Aldar is seeking an experienced procurement professional to lead spend reviews, rate assessments and contractor performance across Abu Dhabi projects. You will implement strategic sourcing frameworks and maintain continuity to support the business.

The role requires strong vendor management, market research, and cost estimation skills, with a bachelor’s degree in engineering or contract management and 6+ years of leadership in procurement.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6+ years of experience in leading a procurement/sourcing function.
• Experience in reviewing spend, contractor performance and supplier qualifications.
• Strong understanding of construction costs, rate analysis and cost estimation techniques.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the review Prequalification of consultants, contractors and service providers and classifying them based on expertise and criteria.
• Manage Aldar approved vendors list for pricing enquiries and market rate references.
• Adopt strategic sourcing for typical products required on Aldar Projects (tiles, joinery, A/Cs, white goods).
• Obtain EOIs from shortlisted vendors for works or services.
• Maintain construction contract vendor lists and prequalifications.
• Conduct market research for innovative designs and solutions.
• Coordinate with the Department of Economy for vendor activities within trade licenses.
• Assist in monitoring main sub-contractor performance in contracts.
• Conduct spend analysis by category and vendor in collaboration with AVP – Strategic Sourcing.

Job description

JOB PURPOSE

• Assist in the purchasing activities of Aldar via reviewing spend, rates, and contractor’s performance.
• Implement the strategic sourcing framework and maintain its continuity and effectiveness to ensure proper support to the business.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in the review Prequalification of consultants, contractors and service providers and classifying them based on their expertise and other set criteria.
• Manage Aldar approved vendors list to be available for reference by all stakeholders to be also use for pricing enquiries to obtain current market rates as and when required.
• Adopt strategic sourcing for typical products/goods required on Aldar Projects (tiles, joinery, air conditioners, white goods, etc.).
• Obtaining Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from shortlisted vendors for works or services.
• Manage and maintain the construction contract Vendor List to be updated frequently and prequalified.
• Conduct market research for adequate and innovative design and solution
• Ensure integration with Department of Economy for vendors approved activities as approved in their trade license.
• Implement Abu Dhabi Municipality new activities and Classification.
• Assist in the monitoring of main sub-contractors performance in the construction contracts.
• Conduct periodic study on ALDAR spend analysis as per category and vendor, in conjunction with the AVP – Strategic Sourcing.

RELATED YEAR OF EXPERIENCE

Min of 6+ years of experience in leading a procurement / sourcing function.

TECHNICAL AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

• Good understanding of site-based aspects of construction projects.
• Good understanding of construction costs, cost estimation techniques and rate analysis.
• IT proficient, with extensive experience working with Excel, Database and Estimating Software.
• Knowledge of construction items and market rates.
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision making skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and achieve tight deadlines.
• Commitment to Professional Ethics, Integrity and Confidentiality.

QUALIFICATION

Bachelor degree in engineering or contract management.

Formal contractual dispute resolution training is highly preferred.
