Job description
Responsibilities
  • Checks and validates that the entries in the local accounting system are in line with the applicable reporting requirements
  • Performs month-end and year end closing operations in accordance with the statutory reporting requirements and regional/global policies
  • Manages accruals, prepayments and depreciation schedules
  • Re-conciliates between the local statutory accounting system and the reporting system
  • Reviews the annual statutory financial statements and the half yearly accounting reports
  • Reviews the monthly, quarterly and annual tax returns for VAT and corporate tax as applicable
  • Timely identifies possible accounting and tax compliance issues and communicates these to the manager
  • Performs and maintains periodic balance sheet reconciliations
  • Ensures compliance with internal controls and accounting standards
  • Provides documentation and support to auditors during internal and external audits
  • Manages and reconciles transactions between a company and its related entities
  • Assists with month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Assists with Oracle implementation in collecting and updating AR/AP/GL and fixed assets journals
  • Manages external and internal supplier payments, reconciles and produces statement of accounts
  • Ensures accuracy and completeness of financial records by reconciling bank statements, sub‑ledgers and other accounts
  • Assists with the development of budgets and financial forecasts on overhead providing insights based on historical and present data
  • Inputs financial data such as balance sheet and P&L for actuals and forecasting into Tagetik reporting system
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field. Accounting qualifications are a plus.

5-7 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the engineering consultancy industry.

Proficiency in accounting software: familiarity with ERP systems (eg Sage, Oracle) is a plus.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to analyze financial data, identify issues and propose solutions.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Attention to detail and accuracy.

Understanding of IFRS or GAAP.
