Key activities and competencies
The Sr Accountant is responsible for managing all day-to-day Finance matters including accounting, reporting, treasury, audit, taxation and other finance day-to-day activities for the Company. The Sr Accountant assists the CFO in various Project Finance and Corporate Governance matter.
Responsibilities
- Assist in company formation, initial procurement, setting up processes, ERP system implementation and other departmental setup support as needed.
- Managing all day-to-fay finance matters including processing invoices, payments, getting approval, ensuring proper documentation, archiving.
- Handling petty cash (national/foreign currency).
- Preparing bank reconciliations.
- Credit card account settlement.
- Raising of inter‑company debit notes quarterly.
- Issue weekly cash position.
- Identify cash usage requirements and place deposits accordingly.
- Assist in preparing closing schedules.
- Make accrual and other journal entries as assigned.
- Ensure strict compliance with internal policies and procedures.
- Maintain monthly internal calendar / deadlines.
- Assist in preparation of other deliverables upon request.
- In charge of filing and maintaining bank activity files and all correspondence.
- Preparation of VAT returns.
- Support in annual audit.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and environmental management procedures.
- Ensure complete understanding and adherence to safety procedures.
- Maintain consistent frequency of safety and environmental inspections and timely reporting.
- Promote safe working methods practices.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, directives, project requirements.
- Adhere to corporate policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of policies and procedures.
- Perform day-to-day accounting of the company including sales, purchases, receipts, payments, petty cash.
- Perform month‑end accounting activities such as payrolls, reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Ensure appropriate documentation of all accounting records.
- Monitor expenditures, analyze budget variances and report to management.
- Timely and accurately prepare monthly financial reports and other accounting reports requested by management.
- Ensure compliance with reporting requirements of shareholders.
- Respond to accounting inquiries by management timely.
- Prepare yearly financial statements complying with IFRS.
- Assist in complying with laws and regulations applicable to the Company.
- Handle auditing by providing necessary information and preparing documentation.
- Timely preparation and submission of VAT and other tax filings and payments.
- Preparation of VAT refund claims and follow up for refund.
Budgeting
- Assist in the preparation of the yearly budget and Medium‑Term‑Plans.
- Update the forecasting model, including monthly rolling forecast.
- Prepare cashflow projections.
Operations & Budget
- Contribute to the Budget Planning process.
- Support the development of operational budgets.
- Evaluate supporting contracts and monitor contractor performance.

- Compliance with IFRS and Shareholders' Accounting Policies.
- Production of timely and accurate managerial reports and statements.
- Implementation and continuous improvements of management systems, policies, and procedures (internal control).

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Good command of the English language with verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be flexible: willing to work long hours, weekends and be on call if required (periodically).
- Arabic is an advantage.
- Foundation knowledge in accounting.
- Familiar with Internal Control principles.
- Process and system oriented.
- Strong interpersonal skills, good verbal and written communication.
- Good practical knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Eager to learn.

- Able and willing to work efficiently in a global, culturally diverse and changing environment.
Qualifications
Minimum of Diploma in economics, accounting, finance, business administration or Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) from Association of Chartered Certified Accounts UK.
Experience
Minimum 8 years of experience in finance, accounting and/or controlling, in an equivalent position in an Audit Firm and/or multinational company.
Education Level
Bachelor's Degree.
