Job Description:

Purpose of the Role

This position is part of Trafigura’s Security & Business Resilience function and acts as a regional security lead. It involves direct, practical management of physical security and resilience within the middle east and with regular support to the rest of the global organization.

This role aims to safeguard Trafigura's personnel, property, and operations by spotting, evaluating, and handling physical security risks in complex, multi-jurisdictional settings. It acts as the main security contact between the global function and regional business lines — including trading, operations, operating companies, and subsidiaries — ensuring security supports commercial activity without hindrance.

Key Responsibilities - Regional
Operational Security Leadership:
  • Direct the creation and rollout of a regional security plan that aligns with the global security framework and adapts to the changing threat environment. Set up governance frameworks, policies, and standards to guarantee uniform and efficient security oversight throughout the region.
  • Provide specialist physical security advice to business collaborators across the Trafigura Group within the region, enabling risk-informed decisions that protect people, assets, and strengthens business resilience.
  • Develop and coordinate, where needed, a regional security plan covering transportation, supply chain, logistics, petrochemical, and extraction industry contexts.
  • Assist operating companies in adopting Trafigura's Security Management framework, collaborating with HSE leads in the asset division, General Managers, and contract managers.
  • Conduct security reviews and testing to verify that physical security controls and systems are functioning as intended.
  • Identify physical security vulnerabilities and propose practical, proportionate solutions that address root causes.
  • Map, review, and drive innovation in physical security systems, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Support improvements to local and regional security contracts and agreements.
  • Support a regional security awareness culture by developing and encouraging training programs that give employees the insights and habits essential to managing security risks effectively.
  • Ensure regional security and resilience activities align with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Business Resilience:
  • Coordinate the development and maintenance of regional business resilience programmes, ensuring critical operations can withstand and recover from disruption.
  • Lead the incorporation of resilience planning throughout business functions and foster a culture of readiness.
  • Ensure Business continuity and crisis response plans are reviewed, approved and maintained as per BCP Policy and Governance for the region.
Travel Security:
  • Direct and arrange travel security in the region, which includes monitoring, providing advisory support, and responding promptly to incidents.
  • Work with external security suppliers to ensure travelers receive the best available advice, mentorship, and support.
  • Respond and coordinate support for travel security related incidents in the region.
Incident & Crisis Management:
  • Lead regional incident response and exercises including the development of crisis response frameworks, command structures, and protocols for addressing critical issues.
  • Ensure the organization is prepared to respond effectively to security incidents, natural disasters, and other events with potential for significant business impact.
  • Support the recording, reporting, and raising of security incidents involving blocking issues accurately and in a timely manner, covering trading operations, assets, and shipping.
  • Participate actively in regional incident response, supporting a 24/7 security support function for the Group.
  • Contribute to business continuity planning and crisis management frameworks.
  • Coordinate and aid in the examination of physical security incidents.
Standard, Policy and Capability Building
  • Assist in the creation and application of physical security policies, procedures, and standards throughout the Group. Special focus on physical security of offices and sites.
  • Deliver security education and awareness programs to staff, building security literacy across the organization.
  • Establish and run Security Clusters or equivalent forums to drive information sharing, professional development, and regional coordination.
  • Build and maintain a trusted network of internal and external partners, including law enforcement, security service providers, and suppliers.

  • They balance short-term operational demands with long-term partnership success, communicate clearly at all levels, and are equally comfortable in the field and in front of senior leadership.
  • Operate effectively across diverse cultural, regulatory, and operational contexts, demonstrating sensitivity to local requirements while maintaining global standards. Navigate the complexity of a multinational organisation with confidence, pragmatism, and cultural intelligence.
  • Communicate with clarity and confidence at executive and board level, translating technical security matters into language that drives informed decision-making. Produce high-quality written and verbal outputs that are tailored to diverse audiences and reflect the organization’s strategic priorities.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships across regional and global functions, bringing to bear influence rather than authority to drive alignment and shared outcomes. Foster a culture of cross-functional cooperation in which security and resilience are understood as shared organizational responsibilities.
  • Prove you can think and act at a strategic level by defining a clear security and resilience direction. Ensure this direction matches organizational aims and predicts future issues. Turn complicated risk situations into understandable strategies that gain confidence from senior leaders.
