The role

Dubai British School Emirates Hills is recruiting an Outstanding STEAM Teacher for Secondary. The preferred start date is August 2026, although a January 2027 start may be considered for the right candidate.

The Teacher of STEAM will deliver an engaging and innovative curriculum that develops students’ creativity, curiosity, practical skills and problem-solving through hands-on, project-based learning. The role suits an outstanding secondary teacher from a wide range of subject backgrounds, including Computer Science, Design Technology, Science or Mathematics, although applications are welcomed from any teacher with a passion for practical, innovative learning.

Key responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality STEAM lessons that engage, challenge and inspire students through practical, project-based learning experiences.
  • Guide students through the design process from research and design to prototyping, testing, evaluation and refinement.
  • Adapt teaching to meet the needs of all learners and use assessment effectively to monitor progress.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the STEAM curriculum and create engaging interdisciplinary learning experiences.
  • Lead or support STEAM clubs, enrichment activities, competitions and showcases.
  • Work collaboratively with the STEAM Lead and share effective practice with colleagues.
  • Maintain a safe, organised and inspiring practical learning environment and ensure appropriate health and safety procedures are followed.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Excellent classroom practice and a commitment to high-quality teaching and learning.
  • A passion for practical, project-based learning that develops creativity, curiosity and problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • A collaborative, creative and innovative approach to teaching and curriculum development.
  • A commitment to contributing to the wider life of the school through enrichment and extracurricular opportunities.
  • Experience in, or an affinity with, subjects such as Computer Science, Design Technology, Science or Mathematics is desirable.
  • Confidence in using practical and digital technologies to enhance teaching and learning is desirable.
