Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Science or a directly related specialist subject, with a PGCE and QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Relevant teaching experience, ideally within a reputable British curriculum school.
• Strong subject knowledge and experience teaching Science across KS3 and KS4, including Combined and Separate Sciences.
• Ability to teach a specialist Science subject at A Level.
• Experience or the ability to teach more than one Science subject at A Level would be considered advantageous.
• A proven track record of high-quality teaching and learning, with the ability to support excellent student progress and attainment.
• Experience in planning and delivering practical Science lessons with a strong understanding of laboratory health and safety procedures.
• Fluent or native-level English language skills.
• Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
• A caring, reflective and collaborative approach to teaching, with a genuine commitment to student wellbeing and the Arbor ethos.

Responsibilities

• Safeguard and promote the welfare of all students in accordance with Arbor's Safeguarding Framework, policies and Code of Conduct.
• Positively and actively promote the Arbor vision, mission and values.
• Ensure professional practice is aligned with the Arbor Staff Handbook and relevant school policies and procedures.
• Support the development and review of the Science curriculum and schemes of work across KS3, KS4 and KS5.
• Plan, deliver and evaluate engaging and challenging lessons in accordance with National Curriculum requirements, with a focus on pace, higher-order questioning, scientific enquiry and critical thinking.
• Teach Science across KS3 and KS4, including Combined and Separate Sciences, and their specialist science at KS5 where required.
• Plan and deliver safe, purposeful practical investigations, including required practicals, to develop students' scientific knowledge, enquiry skills and confidence.
• Work closely with Science Technicians to ensure practical activities are appropriately prepared and delivered in accordance with laboratory health and safety procedures.
• Use effective assessment strategies and student progress data to inform teaching, provide appropriate challenge and support strong academic outcomes.
• Establish a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment across classrooms and laboratories that encourages curiosity, exploration and a love of Science.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, pastoral and inclusion teams to support the academic and personal development of every student.
• Develop enrichment opportunities that encourage scientific exploration, investigation and an understanding of the natural world.
• Incorporate ecological awareness, sustainability, real-world scientific applications and cross-curricular learning opportunities where appropriate.
• Actively engage in professional development and contribute positively to Arbor's professional learning community.
