Position Overview
Secondary Biology Teacher - British Curriculum in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is a full‑time role for a qualified and enthusiastic biology teaching professional. The candidate should hold a Master’s degree in Biology and a Bachelor of Education qualification, possess strong communication skills, and be able to support student learning through effective lesson planning, classroom management, and subject‑focused teaching.
The role involves delivering engaging secondary‑level biology lessons that develop students’ understanding of biological concepts, scientific methods, practical applications, and examination readiness. The teacher will create a positive learning environment, assess student progress, and contribute to the academic standards of the teaching team.
Candidates with their own visa will be preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach Biology to secondary‑level students in line with British curriculum standards and school academic expectations.
- Prepare and deliver engaging lessons that develop students' understanding of biological concepts, scientific methods, and practical applications.
- Plan structured learning activities, worksheets, assessments, laboratory-based tasks, and classroom resources.
- Support students in understanding key biology areas such as cells, genetics, ecology, human biology, plant biology, evolution, and scientific investigation.
- Encourage inquiry‑based learning, critical thinking, observation skills, and confidence in scientific discussion.
- Assess student progress through classwork, homework, practical tasks, projects, tests, and examinations.
- Provide constructive feedback to help students improve academic performance and examination preparation.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, assessments, lesson plans, and student progress.
- Apply effective classroom management strategies to create a safe, respectful, and motivating learning environment.
- Support differentiated learning to meet the needs of students with varied abilities.
- Collaborate with science department colleagues, coordinators, and school leadership to maintain high teaching standards.
- Communicate professionally with students, parents, and internal school teams when required.
- Follow school policies, safeguarding procedures, health and safety expectations, and laboratory safety standards.
- Contribute to school activities, academic initiatives, and wider educational programmes when assigned.
Ideal Profile
- Master’s degree in Biology is required.
- Bachelor of Education qualification is required.
- Previous teaching experience in Biology at the secondary level is preferred.
- Experience in a British curriculum school is an advantage.
- Strong subject knowledge in biology and secondary science education.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to plan and deliver engaging, curriculum‑aligned lessons.
- Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.
- Ability to assess student performance and provide meaningful academic feedback.
