Job summary

The Aquila School is seeking a Driver to ensure safe transport for students, with duties including daily student pickups and drop-offs, bus inspections, and adherence to safeguarding and traffic regulations. You will work under the Facility Manager and Transport & housekeeping supervisor, with 5.30am start times and 8-hour days Monday- Thursday, shorter Fridays, and occasional evenings/weekends.

Candidates should be committed to a safe, well-supervised environment and be prepared to participate

Responsibilities

  • Transport children to and from school in the mornings and afternoons
  • Verify permissions for children who ride home with friends
  • Maintain a clean and mechanically-sound bus at all times
  • Obey all traffic laws
  • Perform inspections of the bus before and after each route
  • Ensure safety of all students
  • Discipline children when required to maintain a safe and healthy environment
  • Assist students with getting on and off the bus when required
  • Attend monthly safety meetings
  • Ensure that your RTA approvals are up to date and carry them along on all trips
  • Carry out any tasks required by the school or regional office to facilitate the smooth day to day running of the school
  • Line managed by the Facility Manager and Transport & housekeeping supervisor
  • Hours of work- 8 hours from 5.30am-5.00pm (with appropriate break time) Monday to Thursday & 5.30am to 2pm on Fridays plus occasional evening and weekend work
  • Holidays- 30 days per school year

The Aquila School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All post holders are subject to appropriate vetting procedures and satisfactory Criminal Background Checks or equivalent covering the previous 10 years’ employment history.

Key duties for all Drivers include:
  • Transport children to and from school in the mornings and afternoons

In addition, all staff are required to carry out any tasks required by the school or the regional office to facilitate the smooth day to day running of the school

To be line managed by the Facility Manager and Transport & housekeeping supervisor

Hours of work- 8 hours from 5.30am-5.00pm (with appropriate break time) Monday to Thursday & 5.30am to 2pm on Fridays plus occasional evening and weekend work

Holidays- 30 days per school year
