Job summary

Worley Abu Dhabi is seeking a Safety Officer to support HSSE objectives on a major oil and gas project. You will provide safety leadership, ensure compliance, and drive best-value outcomes for stakeholders across the project lifecycle.

The role requires substantial experience in Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industries, preferably within GCC, and a Diploma or equivalent. You will coordinate with EPC and PMC teams to maintain HSSE standards on site.

Qualifications

• Diploma in or equivalent from an accredited institute.
• Ten (10+) years of experience in Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industries, preferably in GCC.
• Experience in HSSE and safety leadership on large projects.

Responsibilities

• Ensure HSSEQ goals are met through leadership and involvement.
• Oversee safe delivery and handover of the project to Owner and stakeholders.
• Provide HSSE guidance to ensure Project HSSE Management System is integrated into execution.
• Monitor EPC Contractor HSSE performance and coordinate with PMC teams.
• Champion project safety culture and engagement activities.
• Assist in identifying and resolving HSSE issues during EPC phase.
• Ensure EPC Contractor's HSSE personnel are qualified and compliant.
• Support investigations and communicate findings to management.

Principal Accountabilities

Ensuring HSSEQ goals, objectives and targets are met through personal leadership and involvement.

Safe delivery and handover of the Project to the Owner, sustainably, safely, on time, within budget, ensuring that a quality product is produced that represents ‘best value’ for the Owner and their Stakeholders.

Provides overall guidance from a HSSE perspective to the Project to ensure that the Project HSSE Management System is established and implemented into the overall Project execution strategy.

Close monitoring of EPC Contractor to ensure that Project HSSE objectives are met.

Provides leadership to the PMC HSSE resources, EPC Contractor and their respective teams.

Champion the Project Safety culture, behaviors and engagement activities.

Identifying, evaluating, and resolving HSSE issues during the EPC phase of the works.

Coordination with PMC Construction Engineers in different disciplines during the Construction phase for their tasks related to HSSE activities.

Ensuring that the Project HSSE procedures are established, maintained and implemented by the EPC Contractor.

Advising the PMC team on questions of HSSE, collaborating in the definition of objectives and pursuing them.

Witnessing HSSE Audits conducted by the EPC Contractor.

(NCR) and Observations to Project Management and the EPC Contractor.

Ensure EPC Contractor’s HSSE personnel are appropriately qualified.

Ensure the implementation of the Project HSSE Plan for the EPC Contract.

Participating in reviewing the Project Execution Plan (PEP) prepared by EPC Contractor and ensuring that it addresses the applicable HSSE requirements to fulfill the overall Project requirements.

Ensure that the HSSE systems of Vendors and Sub-vendors is evaluated by EPC Contractor and complies with the Project HSSE standards.

Ensure that a proper system for HSSE records is established and maintained by the EPC Contractor.

Provide support to PMC Management with investigation of any HSSE concerns and communicate the findings accordingly.

Provide regular feedback to Project management and key stakeholders, including lessons learned.

Monitor the performance of EPC Contractor and Subcontractors with respect to HSSE.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma in or equivalent from an accredited institute with a minimum of Ten (10+) years of experience in the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry including minimum five (5) years (preferred) in GCC region.
  
• Specific experience or qualification or training or technical certificate shall be provided if required and as applicable.
