SteerAI is seeking a highly skilled Robotics Engineer with strong expertise in C++ and ROS to design, develop, and integrate software for autonomous robotic systems. The role emphasizes robot-to-server communication and integration with Mission Planner and C2/C3 systems.

The ideal candidate will design reliable communication interfaces, enable efficient exchange of mission, telemetry, vehicle status, and other data across vehicle, Mission Planner, and C2/C3 systems.

Formación

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Robotics, CS, Electronics, or related field.
• 3+ years in communication software development for robotics/defense, etc.
• Strong C++ and ROS expertise with real-time data handling.

Responsabilidades

• Design, develop, and implement robotics systems using C++ and ROS, ensuring high performance, scalability, and robust functionality.
• Develop releasable C++ shared libraries and APIs to create reusable software components for robotics applications.
• Utilize knowledge of communication systems and protocols to establish seamless data exchange between robots, sensors, actuators, and external devices.
• Implement and maintain robot-to-robot and robot-to-server communication, ensuring reliable, low-latency, and efficient data exchange.
• Develop and implement camera streaming solutions to reliably transmit video data from autonomous vehicles to Mission Planner servers.
• Work with various message formats such as JSON, Protobuf, and custom formats to enable interoperability between systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements, architecture, and integration strategies.
• Develop and maintain software libraries, APIs, and drivers for communication interfaces and protocols.
• Conduct thorough testing, debugging, and performance optimization of robotic systems to ensure reliability and stability.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and advancements in robotics, ROS, and communication protocols.

About the role

We are looking for a highly skilled Robotics Engineer with strong expertise in C++ and ROS to design, develop, and integrate software for autonomous robotic systems.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in robot-to-server communication and integrating autonomous vehicles with Mission Planner and C2/C3 systems, including designing reliable communication interfaces and enabling the efficient exchange of mission, telemetry, vehicle status, and other required information across the vehicle, Mission Planner, and C2/C3 systems.

• Design, develop, and implement robotics systems using C++ and ROS, ensuring high performance, scalability, and robust functionality.
• Develop releasable C++ shared libraries and APIs to create reusable software components for robotics applications.

• Stay up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and advancements in robotics, ROS, and communication protocols.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in communication software development, preferably in robotics, automotive, or defense sectors.
• Strong knowledge of robot architectures, networking, and integration with cloud or edge servers.Strong proficiency in C++ programming, with solid understanding of object-oriented design principles and extensive hands‑on experience.
• Expertise in Robot Operating System (ROS) with familiarity with ROS concepts, tools, and frameworks.
• Strong knowledge and hands‑on experience with communication protocols including MQTT, DDS, and other messaging frameworks.
• Understanding robot networking, real‑time data transfer, and integration with cloud or edge servers.
• Experience integrating autonomous vehicles with different Mission Planner servers, including defining and exchanging the required vehicle, mission, telemetry, and status information.
• Proficiency in software development tools and workflows (e.g., version control systems, build systems, testing frameworks).
• Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in collaborative teams.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
• Prior experience in developing and deploying robotics systems is highly desirable.
