Experience with design reviews, tender documentation, and delivering commercial-ready drawings is a plus.

Qualifications

Job Description

WSP is seeking a Road Engineer to join our Abu Dhabi team, supporting the design and delivery of major transportation and infrastructure projects across the UAE. The successful candidate will contribute to the planning, geometric design, coordination, and technical delivery of roads and highway projects while working closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative and sustainable engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

• Undertake geometric design and technical delivery of roads, highways, interchanges, and transportation infrastructure projects.
• Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, design drawings, and project documentation.
• Develop concept, preliminary, and detailed road designs in accordance with project requirements and applicable standards.
• Coordinate with utilities, drainage, structures, traffic, and other multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Ensure designs comply with local authority requirements and international design standards.
• Support the preparation of design reports, specifications, and tender documentation.
• Perform road alignment design, corridor studies, junction layouts, and cross-section development.
• Participate in design reviews, technical workshops, and stakeholder meetings.
• Assist in resolving technical issues and providing practical engineering solutions.
• Liaise with clients, authorities, and project stakeholders throughout project delivery.
• Support project managers in achieving project objectives, schedules, and quality standards.
• Contribute to value engineering initiatives and continuous improvement of design processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
• 5-10 years of experience in road and highway design projects.
• Proven experience delivering transportation, roads, and infrastructure projects within engineering consultancy environments.
• Strong knowledge of geometric road design principles and highway engineering standards.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and related road design software.
• Experience with AASHTO, DMRB, Abu Dhabi, and UAE road design standards.
• Strong understanding of multidisciplinary infrastructure project coordination.
• Experience preparing technical reports, design calculations, and construction documentation.
• Excellent communication, technical writing, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working on major transportation and infrastructure projects in the UAE or GCC is preferred.
• Membership of a recognized professional engineering institution is advantageous.
Consultant-side road design experience is essential.
