Role Context

The Rigging Supervisor provides operational control over manual rigging, critical lifts, heavy lifting and elevated lifting activities supporting industrial maintenance programs. The position coordinates job requests, evaluates lifting requirements, guides assigned personnel and verifies that lifting equipment, rigging accessories and work areas meet required safety standards. Through disciplined supervision and close coordination with operating companies, the role helps maintain reliable plant support while reducing lifting risks, delays and equipment-related incidents.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise personnel assigned to rigging, heavy lifting and material handling activities in accordance with established management responsibilities.
• Receive planned and urgent job requests covering manual rigging, critical lifts and related field requirements.
• Review proposed lifting techniques and determine suitable work methods before execution.
• Allocate assignments to rigging personnel and provide technical direction throughout each job.
• Coordinate with planning, operations and supporting functions to execute scheduled lifting and material handling activities.
• Supervise manual rigging arrangements, heavy lifting works and high-elevation lifting operations at plant and field locations.
• Inspect completed work and confirm conformity with approved procedures, lifting requirements and job specifications.
• Monitor work in progress to ensure compliance with statutory requirements, company regulations and recognized international standards.
• Review rigging plans jointly with the Rigging Engineer and verify that lifting methods are appropriate for the intended operation.
• Ensure lifting activities are carried out using certified equipment, approved accessories and correctly selected tools.
• Verify daily lifting checklists and confirm that required inspections and sign-offs are completed before work starts.
• Conduct routine site inspections to identify unsafe conditions, equipment deficiencies or deviations from approved lifting procedures.
• Confirm that personnel use appropriate personal protective equipment throughout rigging and lifting operations.
• Participate in daily and weekly toolbox talks and reinforce safe lifting practices among employees and contractors.
• Support implementation of ADNOC Health, Safety, Environment and Fire requirements across assigned activities.
• Assist in developing work methodologies and operating procedures for specialized rigging and heavy lifting jobs.
• Maintain and update maintenance programs associated with lifting equipment and machinery to support functional reliability.
• Provide budget-related input for planned activities and assist in controlling expenditure against approved work programs.
• Highlight significant cost or performance variances requiring management attention.
• Apply approved policies, procedures, systems and standards while carrying out rigging operations.
• Identify practical improvements in lifting techniques, internal processes and operational efficiency.
• Contribute ideas for tools, methods and procedures that improve job quality and reduce execution risk.
• Participate in Emergency Response duties when assigned.
• Prepare operational updates, progress information and management reports for section activities.

Ideal Profile

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent technical qualification.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in rigging and heavy lifting maintenance services.
• Previous experience within oil and gas, petrochemical or large industrial plant operations is preferred.
• Strong practical capability in manual rigging arrangements and heavy lifting techniques.
• Thorough understanding of lifting procedures, rigging plans and safe execution methods.
