Job summary

WSP in the Middle East is seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to join our Structures Supervision team on major UAE projects. You will lead site supervision activities, coordinate with stakeholders, and ensure high-quality structural and infrastructure delivery.

The role requires a BEng or BSc (Hons) in Civil/Structural Engineering, 20+ years of experience on major buildings, and fluent Arabic and English.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc (Hons) in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 20 years managing major building projects (high-rise, hotels, large residential/commercial).
• Prior UAE consulting experience with proficiency in discipline software.

Responsibilities

• Lead the construction supervision activities for the specific project.
• Establish a construction management plan to standardise contracts and practices.
• Initiate and respond to contract correspondence with Client and Contractor.
• Chair and record meetings from kick-off onward, as needed.
• Establish inspection, testing and commissioning procedures per contract.
• Review the contractor's HSE plan and ensure site safety compliance.
• Review contractor programs to ensure detail, resources and cash flow.
• Monitor progress and assess outputs during construction.
• Implement QMS and conduct regular audits.
• Coordinate with authorities to avoid delays and attend meetings.

We are looking for an experienced Resident Engineer to join our Structures Supervision team on major projects across the UAE. The role offers the opportunity to lead site supervision activities, coordinate with key stakeholders, and ensure the successful delivery of high‑quality structural and infrastructure works.

Responsibilities

• Lead the construction supervision activities for the specific project.
• Establish a construction management plan to ensure all contracts are administered to a common standard and practice.
• Initiate and respond to contract correspondence to and from Client, and contractual correspondence with the Contractor.
• Arrange, chair and record meetings, commencing with the kick‑off meeting and thereafter progress and management meetings that are deemed necessary.
• Establish procedures for inspection approvals, testing, commissioning in accordance with the requirements of the contract.
• Review the contractor’s HSE plan and ensures that the safety procedures are followed at site.
• Review and comment on the contractor’s programs ensuring that they are sufficiently detailed to demonstrate compliance with the requirements of the contract, allocated resources and cash flow.
• Monitor the Contractors progress during construction and regularly assesses output.
• Implement QMS requirements and conduct regular Audits.
• Ensure the contractor liaises with service and other authorities in a timely manner so as not to affect the progress of the works by attending meetings, monitoring agreed programmes and regular follow‑up.
• Certify interim and finalize payments after full review and consultation with the responsible team members.
• Prepare substantial completion reports including any outstanding requirements.
• Issue taking‑over and defects liability certificates as required under the contract.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc (Hons) in Civil/Structural Engineering, or an equivalent qualification
• Minimum of 20 years’ experience in managing major building projects, including high‑rise developments, luxury hotels, large‑scale residential complexes and commercial buildings.
• Candidate must have prior UAE experience with a consulting background and possess comprehensive proficiency in discipline‑specific software.
• Fluency in Arabic and English (written and spoken) is mandatory.
