AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Resident Engineer to oversee electrical infrastructure projects, with a focus on transmission and distribution systems in Abu Dhabi. The role emphasizes safety, regulatory compliance, and cross‑discipline coordination to ensure quality execution.

The candidate will supervise site activities, validate commissioning tests, manage risk, and ensure complete QC records while coordinating with TRANSCO and ADNOC project environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or BE; Diploma path considered with relevant experience.
• Degree certified by Ministry of Higher Education before employment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise site activities ensuring sequence and quality per contract documents.
• Conduct pre-commissioning and commissioning tests and issue site memos.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary activities at site and monitor progress.
• Ensure QC documentation is complete and properly recorded.
• Coordinate with QA/QC and HSE teams to meet project standards.
• Assist Quantity Surveyor in reviewing contractor invoices.

Overview

This senior engineering role is responsible for supervising and managing electrical infrastructure projects particularly in transmission and distribution systems. The Resident Engineer ensures quality execution regulatory compliance and coordination across disciplines with a strong focus on safety risk management and technical excellence. The position demands extensive experience in high-voltage systems commissioning and stakeholder engagement especially within TRANSCO and ADNOC project environments.

Your role

• Supervise the works in such a way that the work is performed in proper sequence and required quality as per Contract Document.
• Perform and approve all the site activities carry out the day-to-day site inspection attend all the pre-commissioning & commissioning tests alignments etc. and issue site memos wherever required.
• PRE for interdisciplinary coordination at site.
• Monitor and report on the progress of work.
• Supervise guide & cooperate with the inspectors to supervise the works in such a way that the work is performed in proper sequence and required quality as per Contract Document.
• Ensure that the documentation for the completion of work activities listed in the Quality Control Plan/Inspection Test Plan is complete and all supporting documents to substantiate the completed works are attached with the Quality Control Records and the data filled in the Quality Control Records are correct.
• Supervise/follow up the tests on site.
• Co-operate with the Quantity Surveyor for review the Contractor monthly invoices.
• Co-operate with the QA/QC Engineer to ensure that the work is carried out to the agreed QC level and recorded in the appropriate QC forms/documents.
• Ensure that practicable measures are taken through Contractor HSE team to protect and promote the Health Safety and Environment.
• For any commissioning activities direct contact to be maintained to TRANSCOPE&C Department with information to TRANSCO Project Engineer and having proper liaison with PRE & RE.
• Must have complete knowledge of the work packages and responsibility assigned to him.
• Must be aware of the construction schedule and ensure timely completion of the work on schedule.
• Responsible for verifying the implementation of risk responses and identifying new risk at the site.

About you

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science (BSc) or Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (BE) or equivalent in Engineering from recognized University. Candidates with minimum Three (3) years of Diploma in Electrical or Electronics & Communication Engineering from recognized Institute with good and relevant experience in the similar projects will also be considered. His degree should be certified by Ministry of Higher Education before he gets the job.

Minimum Experience

• 12 Years of experience in the relevant field for Engineering Degree Holders and nine (9) years for the Diploma Holders preferred with a consultant. Experience shall include successfully completing a previous project of similar type and similar scope of work.

• Installation of cables and cable ways.
• Stringing of OHL conductors/ OPGW.
• Testing and commissioning of Transformers Switchgears Protection & Control systems Telecom systems etc.
• Issue site memos.
• Familiarity with Transco specifications.
• Awareness of HSE monitoring implementation and knowing of relevant hazards.
• Ability to monitor and supervise the contractor and subcontractors activities from all different aspects.
• Early identification of risks.
