Job summary

MBZUAI in Abu Dhabi, UAE invites applications for a fully funded Research Engineer position in statistics or machine learning for 3–12 months, supervised by Prof. Souhaib Ben Taieb.

The role supports projects in probabilistic ML, uncertainty quantification, conformal prediction, time-series forecasting, and anomaly detection, with collaboration with industry partners. Qualifications

• Knowledge of machine learning or statistical modeling and experience implementing and evaluating models.
• Experience with Git, Linux, testing, and writing clear, maintainable, and documented research code.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, including excellent written and spoken English.
• Master's degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Implement and evaluate machine-learning and statistical methods across research projects.
• Build reliable workflows for data preprocessing, model training, evaluation and visualization.
• Run experiments, establish baselines, analyze model performance and communicate findings.
• Develop maintainable research software with version control, testing, and documentation.
• Maintain shared research code and compute workflows; collaborate with partners and contribute to reports and demos.
• Collaborate with research-group members and contribute to technical reports and papers.
