Overview
Research Assistant - Neuroengineering in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates is a focused Higher Education research opportunity for an engineering or biomedical graduate interested in advanced neuroengineering, translational medicine, neuromodulation, implantable microdevices, nanoparticles, and electroceutical technologies. This role supports the Ramadi Lab for Advanced Neuroengineering and Translational Medicine at New York University Abu Dhabi, contributing to research that aims to develop minimally invasive diagnostics and therapies for neurologic, metabolic, and immune disorders.
Salary
Estimated salary range: 10,000–16,000 AED per month.
Key Responsibilities
- Support research projects focused on neuromodulation, translational medicine, biomedical engineering, and neural activity modulation.
- Assist with data collection, organization, analysis, and documentation for ongoing laboratory studies.
- Manage project logistics, laboratory workflows, equipment coordination, consumables, and research-related purchasing.
- Help train new lab members on laboratory procedures, equipment use, documentation practices, and research workflows.
- Contribute to manuscript preparation, grant writing support, research summaries, and technical documentation.
- Work on individualized research projects under faculty supervision during the appointment.
- Support the development of minimally invasive technologies such as implantable microdevices, nanoparticles, and electroceuticals.
- Assist with experimental preparation, laboratory testing, troubleshooting, and data recording.
- Coordinate with the principal investigator and research team on project milestones, task planning, and progress updates.
- Maintain organized lab records, inventory tracking, experiment notes, and project files.
- Use problem‑solving skills to support day‑to‑day research needs with moderate autonomy.
- Work with a variety of laboratory equipment and support safe, accurate, and efficient lab operations.
- Communicate clearly with faculty, researchers, students, suppliers, and lab members.
- Contribute to a collaborative research environment focused on diagnostics and therapies for neurologic, metabolic, and immune disorders.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, biomedical engineering, or a biomedical‑related discipline.
- Master's degree in engineering or a biomedical‑related discipline is preferred.
- At least 2 years of work experience in a laboratory setting.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment, experimental workflows, and research documentation.
- Strong organizational, communication, problem‑solving, and time‑management skills.
- Proficiency in English.
- Self‑motivated approach with the ability to solve problems independently when appropriate.
- Ability to work under principal investigator guidance while handling assigned responsibilities with care.
- Interest in neuroengineering, translational medicine, biomedical devices, neuromodulation, and clinical research applications.
- Experience or interest in engineering device design, fabrication, or manufacturing is preferred.
