Job description

Overview

We are currently looking for a Renewables Specialist with hands on onsite experience particularly during the commissioning phase and/or in live operation and maintenance of utility‑scale Solar PV and Wind Powerplants to be deployed within the following months within the GCC area on short‑term assignments. This is a fixed‑term contract with the view to transform into a permanent position within the ME Nuclear & Power team in the UAE.

Your role
  • Candidates must have been directly involved in complex and demanding troubleshooting activities under real operational or commissioning conditions.
  • Extensive experience managing large‑scale projects typically hundreds of megawatts and above is essential; experience limited to small or distributed systems is not sufficient and will not be considered.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills with the ability to identify and assess single points of failure within operating Solar PV and/or Wind plants through detailed system reviews, site investigations and structured interviews with plant and O&M personnel.
  • Proven ability to identify and assess single points of failure including systematic review of critical plant systems, failure modes and dependencies impacting power generation; these experts will represent the company at site and act as a trusted technical interface with clients, plant operators and asset owners.
  • Background in regions with long‑established utility‑scale renewable portfolios (i.e. Europe) where lessons learned from multiple generational projects have informed best‑in‑class practices will be considered highly advantageous.
  • Preferred candidates will be requested to travel to up to three power plant sites within the GCC region for a period of maximum up to 2‑3 months in total.
About you
  • At least 10‑15 years of demonstrable on‑site experience on utility‑scale solar or wind projects.
  • Both disciplines must involve assets of the order of hundreds of MW and above ideally within the ME region.
  • Proven on‑site exposure during commissioning and/or live O&M including intense troubleshooting.
  • Experience acquired either through EPC contractors or O&M entities.
  • Strong technical judgment to identify single points of failure and system‑level risks.
  • Good knowledge of reliability matters and identification of design flaws or O&M gaps.
  • Comfortable engaging directly with site teams, operators and asset owners.
  • Confident, credible and professional in client‑facing site‑based roles.
  • Solid experience gained in mature renewable energy markets with established best practices.
  • Experience within the ME and GCC regions.
  • Track record of applying lessons learned from multiple large‑scale projects.
  • Background in owners engineering, technical advisory or asset reliability roles.
  • Experience working across multi‑cultural teams particularly in the GCC environment.
  • Profiles with combined track record in Solar PV and Wind will be a considerable asset.
