Job summary

YO IT Consulting is seeking a Manufacturing Design Engineer - CAD and DFM for a remote contractor role in Dubai, UAE. You will convert manufacturing requirements into production-ready 3D models and detailed drawings, ensuring GD&T compliance and manufacturability.

Strong FreeCAD proficiency and 2+ years of experience are required. Responsibilities include validating designs, supporting production handoff, and adapting components for CNC, sheet metal, plastics, and injection molding processes.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of professional experience in mechanical component design for manufacturing.
Strong FreeCAD proficiency with advanced part modeling and drawings.
Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and DFM principles for production-ready designs.

Responsibilities

Create detailed parametric 3D models of mechanical parts and assemblies using FreeCAD or comparable CAD platforms.
Modify existing CAD designs while preserving design intent and dimensional integrity.
Develop production-ready engineering drawings for manufacturing handoff.
Apply GD&T requirements to communicate functional dimensions and geometric controls clearly.
Perform tolerance analysis and evaluate tolerance stack-ups within parts and assemblies.
Design components suitable for CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, plastics manufacturing, and injection molding.
Apply Design for Manufacturing principles during component and assembly development.
Review geometry, dimensions, interfaces, and assembly relationships for technical accuracy.
Conduct CAD validation and quality assurance checks before designs are considered production ready.
Identify modeling errors, dimensional conflicts, and assembly interferences.
Resolve manufacturability issues before technical packages are released for production.
Evaluate whether design features are practical for the intended manufacturing process.
Prepare technical notes that explain design intent, assumptions, constraints, and manufacturing considerations.
Develop assembly instructions and reference documentation for technical users.
Interpret manufacturing specifications and incorporate relevant requirements into CAD models and drawings.
Review engineering drawings for completeness, consistency, and production usability.
Incorporate feedback from technical reviewers into models, drawings, and supporting documentation.
Maintain alignment between 3D models, drawings, dimensional requirements, and documented design decisions.
Apply careful quality control to detect inconsistencies across design deliverables.
Work independently while meeting project quality, documentation, and delivery requirements.
